Your fav Approaches in Flight Sim?

Recommended Posts

What are your fav approaches to land in Flight sim? Not necessarily.. in real life. But with Flight sim + add on sceneries etc? These are my top three.1. EDER (German scenery 4 by Aerosoft and sloped runway). for GA planes.2. Kai Tak. (The recent freeware.... set. The approach..the meat and potato of this scenery, supporting scenery objects for this, the photo scenery of the Kai Tak Honk Kong area) For all aircrafts...but most fun with the PMDG 747 and hand flying it.3. Lukla (Aerosofts sloped runway again) for GA aircrats.Honorable mention a. St Maarteen, Princess Juliana (Freeware) and b. St. Barths (Freeware)MannyPS: I like Aspen Colorado from a procedure and everything..but there are no addon quality scenery....so this didn't make the cut. It has great potential.PS: I am kind of surprised..that these actually beat (in my mind) Flight scenery KPSP and all of Fly Tampa's airport sceneries, Mega sceneries and Aerosoft's own mega Frankfurt Main (I would say..Frank furt main adds to German scnery 4 than the other way around) when it comes to approach to land.PS2: When I got German scenery 4. Which they market as a set of airports.. I was so dissappointed at firt.. because most of the airports in that are simple airport objects placed around... tnat I actually wanted to return the product. Thank God I didn't..

Innsbruck's got my vote. That one tore me up the first couple of times I tried it. Fly something you are familiar with if you are trying Innsbruck for the first time, because you'll have enough to worry about besides trying to fly the plane. So fly something you are good at flying.Rhett

Easy one this..................Gary Summons UK2000 scenery 'Gatwick Pro' and the approach to runway 23L.As you fly down the glide slope you see the train approaching Gatwick station and the cars on the main A23.Just as it is in reality. Gary's best in my opinion.

The expressway approach into Runway 31 at Laguardia! Also the River approach to Runway 18 at KDCA! For sheer beauty though I like ocean approaches, like TNCM or into Honolulu. Also Runway 4 at KLGA during Sunset!!

Thanks

Gotta be the Madiera LPMA Rwy 05 Visual Approach for me. :9Simply the best test of how well one knows ones a/c. IMHO the Approach charts maketh the airport ...sometimes what looks like a boring airport can be really exiting if you have the real world charts. :)....the Macao VMMC LOC DME Rwy 16 is another tricky one! :-kewl

British Columbia has many great approaches. I like Kelowna, with its offset localizer for Rwy 15. Try that with in low vis. low ceiling. (See the link for the plate)Even harder is Castlegar if you can find the real world chart for the localizer, double NDB approach. For sheer beauty, it's got to be St. Maarten's, Vancouver and San Francisco.BlairCYOW

Klagenfurt (LOWK) is pretty tricky as well. In a valley surrounded by 5000' mountains that leaves an opening smaller than the size of pea to the West.Pat

I will have to try LOWK then. I'll use the A320, which is the only big iron I would feel comfortable flying into a tough spot.Rhett

The best I've seen is PTSIM's Madeira.http://www.ptsim.com/en/madeira/madeira.htmIt was updated to work in FS2004. The detailed mesh, coastline, landclass and lighting make this something special. An English language review of the FS2002 version on flightsim is here:http://www.flightsim.com/cgi/kds?$=main/re...ptsim/ptsim.htmI found a review in German that contains a lot of screenshots here:http://www.fsc-ev.de/archiv/madeira.htmJeff Williams (KCDA)

>Gotta be the Madiera LPMA Rwy 05 Visual Approach for me. :9I am with you on this. Another one I really like is Male. Not because it's diffult in any way, but because it feels like landing on an oversized aircraft carrier.Queenstown, NZ is also both very scenic and challenging.
