real world routes

hi,i use the flightplanner of flightsimaviation.com.today i generated a flight from vienna (LOWW) to male (VRMM).but the route leads over iran closely to the east border of iraq and my question is, is this really the route, airlines would take?thx in advance greets burt

This has been addressed in another thread just yesterday.By all accounts it does appear that the Iraqi airspace is pretty much open to commerical traffic/overflights.I use the routfinder free access area to generate my international flight plans because you can include any real world restrictions, NATS, PACOPS, etc..Here's the link: http://rfinder.asalink.net/free It's hard to say if an airline would actually use that particular route because it all comes down to their individual dispatchers, the a/c they fly, their cost factors, general safety procedures, just to name a few. Their also may be several routes for the same departure and arrival airports that can be valid as well.For real world routes that airlines are actually flying you can check the flightware site, I think that's the name of it. I can't remember though if that's just for US. I haven't been to the site in a while.Hope that helps.Edit: One note though, you'll still have to select your SID/STAR's for your airports.
