AFS2 is very optimized and very well programmed. Those >500 numbers you will only get above empty photoreal though. And of course AFS2 is lacking quite a few options although even WITH various options FPS should still be a lot better thanks to the great graphics engine.

I think a lot of people would want trueSKY in AFS2 but it’s up to the developers to implement that. And usually the devs want to do everything themselves. Starting from scratch.

Ah right. Clearly very well optimized, hopefully the Vulkan API will be a so-called game changer. I'd like to see trueSky implemented, it looks great and would enable developers to focus on other aspects of the simulator. But I get why people like to do it themselves too.
