SODE

You did'nt get what my problem is.

I know the SODE works only with the particular SODE supported airports. My problem is with the other default airports where the default jetways are not working with the default jetway command. I tried pressing all the possible keys i.e J, Ctrl+J, Shift+J but nothing seems to work.

I feel your pain. I have the same problem. With SODE installed, it disables all my CTRL+J jetways. SODE has just become an even bigger nightmare lately. How difficult can it be? Why do we even need SODE? Why can't all jetways use the CTRL+J method. Why do developers buy into the SODE method?

I have SODE installed (P3D 4.3), and use it at Flightbeam and FSDT airports that are SODE-enabled. But, I have no problems using the default CTL-J jetways. All the airports that use them still work as far as I can tell. One default airport that I fly into often that has working default jetways is Detroit, KDTW.

I’m not sure how SODE installs itself in FSX (probably via DLL.XML), but if you are running P3D V4x, you could open the main P3D add-ons.cfg with notepad, look for the entry for SODE, and change its “active” status from “TRUE” to “FALSE”, then re-save the file. That will prevent the SODE process from running when you start the sim.

If your CTRL-J default jetways start working again after doing this, then SODE is indeed the problem. In that case, my suggestion would be to post at the developer’s support forum. I don’t think we are supposed to post links here, but if you Google “Sode Jetways”, it will give you the link to the SODE web site.

On the other hand, if your default jetways still refuse to work after disabling SODE, then something else is going on.

If you use FSX, you can probably disable SODE the same way - look for a SODE entry in one of the two DLL.xml or exe.xml files, and change its active status to FALSE.

SODE jetways will do things that default jetways cannot. They tend to look much more realistic, and to connect to the aircraft more accurately.

One advantage of SODE is it will support dual jetways. These are often used on large airliners like 777/A330 that fly internationally. Typically, arriving passengers will deplane through one jetway that leads them directly to the arrivals Customs area of the terminal, while departing passengers will board through the other jetway that connects to the departures area of the terminal. International terminals that are set up this way usually have two levels, with arrivals on one floor, and departures on the other.

Hey nealmac, i think are doing the same mistake that i am doing. I just found out that to get the default jetway moving, there are two different key assigned. One is 'J' to start the Jetstarter and then you should press 'Ctrl+J' to attach/detach. I use to press only Ctrl+J until i pressed J first and then Ctrl+J.

Try it.

Jim,

Yeah, I know SODE jetways have these advantages, but in my experience it's just not worth it, with the amount of issues I have. Whatever happened to simplicity haha.

I'll try that out. Cheers for the tip.

As I understand, FSDT is planning to bring Sode jetways to every default airport in the next generation of GEX. (I think) Sounds like quite an undertaking.

I have no real problems with SODE jetways at airports gates so equipped, other than the fact that it sometimes seems somewhat picky about exactly how the aircraft is positioned on the stand.

I had thought recently that I was getting API.DLL crashes in flight in the FSL A319 and 320 caused by the SODE process running in the background, but I now think it’s actually caused by something else.

Sorry, I meant to quote and reply to the other question you posted below.

Hello guys

I have some payware addon airports from Aerosoft, FSDG, T2G and Flytampa. I got the sode jetways for FSDG from its website. What about other SODE Jetways for Aerosoft and other products? Is it available on their official website? I just want a link for Aerosoft's jetways and others too.

I kept getting CTD because of something like "too many SODE programs running". I removed the following FSDT products--GSX, KJFK, KORD, KLAS and KDFW. I do not know if these programs were actually causing my CTDs, but I do know that since I removed those products, I have not had a problem with SODE CTD's. Those products will not be going back on my computer. Drastic yes. Unfounded, I am not sure, but it works for me.

Hello Fellow Simmers,

Reading this topic i wonder if there is a way before a flight to find out exactly what Jetways with GSX or Sode are actually woking?

Often, I choose a gate either at departure or arrival and find the jetways aren't working at that stand.

If anyone knows how to find working jetways, would you be so kind as to share that information.

As far as i know, i dont think there is specific way for that. By the way all the default airports uses only default moving jetways and not SODE jetways unless you have the GSX Level 2 expansion pack. Some of the addon airports uses SODE and some uses default jetways while some just have a static jetways that does not move. I suggest you to go for GSX Level 2 expansion pack, it adds SODE jetways to all addon & default airports. In this case you will have only SODE jetways in all airports but do watch some videos about the Level 2 pack and do some research before you buy.

I just want to give a tip that if you want to find out wether specific airport has SODE jetways.....for example if you want to check for Heathrow EGLL airport.

Then go to C:/Programdata/SODE/Xml

Inside the xml folder if you see any file of Heathrow EGLL airport that means it has sode...  If there isnt then it doesnt....
