In search of detailed aircraft specs and real time TOD and...

Optimal fuel flow calcs done in real time for GA aircraft?

Foreflight is ok, but doesn’t appear to do TOD.  LittleNavMap does TOD but not sure what it’s based on?

HiFi AS4 does TOD also but that seems not accurate.

GTN 750 doesn’t do it.

Searched online and couldn’t find anything that covers my desired info ... just generic rule of thumb and nothing based on all the factors of flight, air temp, density, wind speeds/direction, engine type(s), etc.

I figure in this day and age there must be something a little more accurate for GA aircraft?

In addition, is there a single source/website that has detail specs for aircraft, like fuel flow rates (taxi, climb, cruise, descent)?

Thoughts?

Cheers Rob

Rob,

I have looked high and low for such data for specific aircraft. The best I've seen is if there is a military manual for that aircraft, e.g. C337/O2. All the military flight manuals tend to have exhaustive tables of fuel consumption in all possible flight phases and weigh/drag configurations.

I have created data by test flying the sim models and recording the settings. There are a couple of different logging softwares that can develop this info.

Please post if you come across any real world data for Piper PA-28 series, Ryan Navion, MU-2 or Soloy C206S.

Thanks and good luck in your research.

Hi Henry,

Thanks for the response, if I find something I'll be sure to report back.  As of right now, I'm doing same (manually take notes), take fuel readings at various phase of flight noting other variable (aircraft load/weight, temps, density, etc. etc.).

I like to push GA and smaller commercial aircraft to their range limits with Island hoping and trying to find the optimal fuel usage so I don't have to dump it into the ocean.

Cheers, Rob.
