Captain Sim 757 v3 P3dv4

Recommended Posts

Captain Sim have released their new 757 v3 for P3dv4.

It looks truely lovely and is advertised as having high res graphics, a 790 page manual and a fully functional FMC.

The original was fully MCE integrated, so here's hoping the new version can work with perhaps the minimum of tweaks? Anyone tested it yet?

It sure does look a real beut!😉

Having the 757 loaded in the sim right now and it's a real beauty, both visually and in terms of systems. Was a bit wonky after initial release but is getting better with each update/hotfix. Still some things to be ironed out though.

So far the plane works good except two things: power Management on take off, vnav decent profle. Other than that its a great 757.

Is this the new V3 757, in P3d?

I have the older CS models, 707/727/etc. These don't use an FMC with VNav/LNav, so you just fly it. I read that the 777 had teething troubles with VNav?

Hopefully its a squashable bug! It looks like a nice flight deck....higher definition than PMDG 737, but at $75+$25 for the add on it needs to be...!

Oh,and its fully MCE integrated!

Regards

David

I don't think there's anything particular new about the CS 757 v3...there is a recent new expansion for it which incorporates Rolls Royce engine options (for $30!), but the base 757 add-on has been around since at least the beginning of this year.

Thanks Bob. I received some advertising blurb that suggested it was "new"? Since I have been away from big iron simming, I probably got a bit over excited at the sight of something new.

Further investigations on You Tube, reveal videos, of the 757, from January this year, pointing to it's release date. Those videos depict some early release "bugs", so perhaps they have managed to squash them by now?...........

Anyway, since it's been out a while, it's time they had a sale......

Regards

David

Not sure if it is called v3 but its a 2018 release for all platforms including P3Dv4. This plane is their step forward in terms of systems complexity however it suffers vnav/ lanv and power management problems again. It doesnt stop me from flying  it but it is still to be fixed.

What i dont like about it is that there is already a second Service pack released (current version is 1.2) and these issues are still not fixed. This Addon is acctually exactly at PMDG 777 price (if you compare their 200LR/F base pack + 300ER expansion with expected price for simmilar set of 757 fuselages so 200 + F + 300) so i would expect that such major things a sorted out immediatelly.

Anyway i will be flying this bird a lot. 🙂

Interesting Kris.

I trust you fly with an MCE first officer and that everything works nicely?

Personally, I am looking at the 737-200/100. This is also now available for P3dv4. I enjoyed this in. FSX and the X Plane version ( not CS of course but it flew with the same avionics). The use of those VOR/NDBs to navigate is very rewarding, not to mention your own VS descent calculations. Also, in a simulator, I find there is more reward in flying earlier models. The pilot and MCE first officer, actually fly the aircraft, instead of just programming the FMC and letting computers fly it for you!

Additionally, at £39 (49$) the CS737 is more reasonably priced and we know it was an important historical milestone in modern air travel.

Regards

David.
