Start up state

Hi all-

Just purchased this a few days ago. Two questions so far..

1. How do you set the start up state and have it stick, that is, if I want ready to taxi loaded verytime I fly, how do I save thta? It always loads with the engines spinning down where I then hit Shift + 5, click ready to taxi and the start provess begins.

2. How do you slow this thing down on decent? Bring the throttle lever back down from a certain point and the warning beep starts.

Re 2.  Lower the gear and some flaps.  What you hear is a gear warning.

Good advice. This ac is slippery.

Also Bert, I just read some of your commentary in the First Impressions thread. Did that AP manual help? It appears that only the pitch wheel on the AP console controls pitch while the AP is on, not the trim wheel. I think I've got that right!

Correct, the pitch wheel adjusts pitch for the autopilot.

Even with only FD selected you can see the flight director bar move up and down when the pitch wheel is turned.

With high performance aircraft you usually descend or slow down, not both at the same time.

Especially with high performance piston engines you should keep the power as high as possible during the descent to prevent shock cooling etc.

If you keep the power above the gear warning level with the gear and flaps up, you will be fine. 

Furthermore with pressurized aircraft you have to care not to descend at a too high vertical speed because you don't want to 'overtake' the cabin on the way down.

Thanks. I'm beginning to get the hang of it. I did some more reading of 'First Impressions' which has helped. The Automixture program is excellent as well.
