RAAS not initiating on F and BCF models , upd.744 P3DV4.3

Featured Replies

Since the latest 744 update I seem to have a problem here with RAAS, which isnt working on the Freighter and BCF models, however it does on passenger and ERF models. Anybody else noticed that?

I did of course completely uninstall the older version deleting all pmdg leftover folders and installed the new one then (twice now...) .  RAAS is also selected as YES in options for all those models. Any glue?

I was gonna post this as well.  Flew the 744F to test the new update.  No RASS.  Thought it was removed but the option is still in the FMC.  No longer in the FSX menu though.

Just to clarify, also here "not working" means that the module seems to not beeing loaded and thus not appearing in the PD3 Menu under Addons

Chris, could you by chance confirm that in PAX and ERF models RAAS is loading for you, too?

In order to understand where the problem possibly is,  could somebody maybe explain, how RAAS loading is triggered, is that any PMDG file which calls the module, or is the problem rather in the module itself?

For P3D, the RAAS module is an entry in the programdata dll.xml file, which means it is loaded every session regardless of aircraft.  I assume that for FSX it's similar, if not programdata then appdata. If RAAS isn't working then something in the RAAS settings maybe?

Thanks Dan,

just to avoid missunderstanding. I am talking about the restricted version of RAAS which came with the 744 (and also with Aerosoft Airbus for example). So this one I suppose should and will only load for the aircrafts it is restricted to, doesnt it?

The dll.xml entries are there (I am using P3D V4.3) , and it also gets loaded and is working perfectly for PAX and ERF models of the 744. The question is why isnt it loading for F and BCF models also ...? So , could that be something in the model files which might be wrong ?

Please apologize if I bring this topic up again.... I also brought that up in the FS2CREW  support forum (where I suppose it rather belongs to) and Bryan told me some days ago that he tried to contact PMDG in regard of that but didnt get any response yet.

I meanwhile made another attempt installing everything from scratch. I ran the RAAS uninstaller, I uninstalled the  PMDG 744 and also Aerosoft Airbus, I cleared all leftover folders from RAAS.

Then I installed the PMDG again from scratch...Same result: No RAAS in those models (BFC and F), but working in PAX and ERF

I installed Aerosoft Airbus and RAAS is working there, too

So I really dont know what else to try. Would it be possible that somone from PMDG could give a statement about that. Is it clearly a FS2CEW issue? Or do I need to file a PMDG support ticket ?

No hurry to solve it, but would be great to just know that somebody is looking at it ...thanks in advance

Ok, done

Was this issue ever resolved? I only installed Prepar3d v4 last week, so I have only recently updated to the latest version of the PMDG 747 QOTSII......and it seems that RAAS has gone walkabout (at least on the BCF model)

Silly question, but is the RAAS selected in the PMDG setup menu of the CDU (Equipment 22/22)? Not all the versions of the 744 have the RAAS installed by default.

Yes, RAAS is enabled in the setup menu.

I filed a ticket time ago and they confirmed  that there is a bug, either in RAAS or in the plane itself. They wanted to look into it together with Bryan , so I suppose it will be fixed...

best regards and Happy New Year !

And in the RAAS menu for the specific model?

,

Yes, RAAS is enabled in the 747-400 BCF Rolls Royce engine option that I was flying. My next flight will be in the 747-400 F P&W option, so I am expecting it not to work in that one aswell (based on Manolo's initial report).
