747-8 tutorial

Recommended Posts

I thought the expansion 747-8 came with a tutorial, but can't find it. the ops center does not have it, it only has the one for the 747 base model.

There is no extra tutorial. The manual has been amended with information on the new features and the EFB has it's own manual.

If you have a look in the -8 aircraft's EFB Documents section you will find a -8 supplement at the end of the PMDG 747 Introduction manual plus two separate manuals which explain how to use and customise the EFB itself.

What type of Navagraph subscription do we need for the efb?  Just for charts or both charts and fms?

Can't buy this right now with a simming rig to repair bUT just wondering

You’ll need a charts subscription for the EFB, and FMS for the main FMS. You can do without a current FMS subscription if you want, but definitely need the charts sub for the EFB if you want to use Navigraph.

You can also import charts from any source (such as free NOS charts) in PDF format, but the functionality offered by Navigraph is very handy. It will automatically link to all the airport charts for your departure and destination, and allow you to put the specific ones you want to use in a “clip” for quick access.

Chris,

I agree with Jim.  There is a manual within the EFB which explains how you can import your own saved pdf Charts (and other documents); but only into the EFB's Documents folder.  I prefer Navigraph's Jeppesen airfiled charts to my own saved pdf charts, because they seem to be clearer and easier to manipulate within the EFB when airborne.  Apparently Navigraph's en-route charts are not yet supported, so you will need to either save them as a pdf or, preferably, use the Navigraph App with them.

Good luck with your simming rig repairs.
