Pontiac Mi Open House 8/13

Recommended Posts

Guest BruceFreeburger

Folks, It's a bit late, but the Pontiac Airport (KPTK) annual open house is Sunday August 13th. Runs until 4:00pm. I was there in 2003 and they had a Flight Simulator demo setup in the terminal lobby. That would be a good place for a meeting of Michigan Flight Simmers. If they have an FS demo setup, I'll leave my cell phone number there. I know Geofa has in the past been with the PTK chapter of the CAP.I plan on being there early and taking a $16 demo flight. Cheers, Bruce Freeburger Roseville, MI

Hey, Just got back from a pilot's dinner there. Didn't win the P-51 ride :(KPTK is my airport...I do all my flying from there. I think I'll head down for mabye an hour (real close, but just getting back from Oshkosh, it seems sooooo small).

Folks, Back from the Open House. Demo flights were only $16. I was by myself, and the second plane to pull up had just a father and son. They yelled for a single (gee, just like downhill skiing's chair lift lines) and I got moved to the front. Literally! Sat in the right side seat up front of a C172RG with a Gamin 430. Very cool to fly in a real 172. I think the yokes were smaller than my CH yoke. Flight just took off from the middle of 27L and did a counter clockwise loop back and landed. Flight was at 1900ft. You could see all kinds of activity. The Yankee Air Museum B-17 flew in the approach as we took off. I could see RC planes, even seagulls, and of course lots of other GA planes. Not part of the air show, a Gulfsteam V landed and parked just west of the spectator area. (I'm assuming it was a V, it sure was big for a bizjet!) Next Michigan Air Show is Grosse Isle Sept 30/Oct 1. Cheers, Bruce Freeburger Roseville, MI
