Boot screen continue button freeze (Trainer 6.50, GTN 750)

Recommended Posts

I've installed the latest version (6.50) of the GTN 750 trainer followed by an install of the latest ( GTN 750 Trainer 6.50 compatible) version of GTN 750 and the result is a black screen.

The trainer operates correctly and I believe that the GTN 750 was installed correctly.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to why the black screen?

Thanks

Hi,

can you please post the content of the RXP log files? (see User's Manual for file/path)

Can you please confirm you anti-virus is not putting any RXP files in quarantine?

Jean-Luc,

I uninstalled both the GTN 750 and GTN trainer 6.50 with Windows Defender (I've purposely uninstalled my other antivirus) turned off and reinstalled the GTN 750 from F1.   The GTN isn't black but nothing happens when I select the "Continue" button.  The virus protection has not been turned on after the install.

Can you please try the following:

1) open the RealityXP.GTN.ini file in the aircraft folder with notepad.exe

2) provided your are using GTN 750 unit#1, locate the section [GTN_750_1]

3) right below this section, add the following line, so that it looks like this in the file:

[GTN_750_1]
AudioDriver = -1

DebugValue = 1
LogTrainer = 1

; comma separated list of render targets
drawto = WINDOW, PANEL2D

4) launch X-Plane and see how it compares.

Jean-Luc,

I changed the configuration settings as you suggested but the screens are still dark. Note that I saved the configuration without the PANELS at the end but, after closing the program the configuration has added PANELS.

[GTN_750_1]
AudioDriver = -1
DebugValue = 1
LogTrainer = 1
; comma separated list of render targets.
drawto = WINDOW, PANEL2D, PANELS

Once you've added these lines, it should make additional entries in the RXP log files. Can you please post the content of the RXP log files generated now?

Thank you for the additional information. It doesn't show much for now.

Can you please try something: you start X-Plane, the GTN shows up, screen stays blank. Wait half a minute or so that X-Plane settles and finishes all background loading remaining while in the cockpit, then disable the GTN from the RXP plugin menu, wait 10 secs or so, then enable the GTN again from the RXP plugin menu. Does this make it show?

I followed your instructions but the screens still are dark.  Here's exactly what's happening:

  1. In the plug in menu when GTN 1 750 is selected a small window shows in the lower left hand corner of the screen.  It's a "start" window and when the "continue" button is pressed it goes dark.  Choosing "hide window" does cause it to close.
  2. In the plug in menue when GTN 2 750 is selected a large "start" window shows and when the "continue" button is pressed it too goes dark.
  3. The panel gauge (Carenado PC-12) is also dark.

Hi Brian,

This looks like the GTN trainer is failing at some point during its boot sequence. This usually has something to do with a couple DB files, the sound driver, or a bogus setting in the nonvol file.

We've released v2.5.7 yesterday with a number of internal changes not listed in the release notes to better cope with start/stop processing. This might just solve the issue you are experience by itself.

Otherwise, we've extended the "LogTrainer" setting in the ini file and you might want to try = 3 (instead of = 1) for further diagnostic options. With this option set to 3, if the GTN turns off because it crashes, you'd find trainer log files in: "C:\ProgramData\Garmin\Trainers\GTN\crshrprts\gtn1\"

Hi Jean-Luc,

I installed v2.5.7 and it didn't fix the problem. I then changed the configuration to "3" as you suggested but, as the log shows, it did crash.

Hi,

I'd guess you've got this content from:
"C:\ProgramData\Garmin\Trainers\GTN\crshrprts\gtn1\Logs"

Can you please go one folder up, locate another folder which name is a typical GUID, typically:
"C:\ProgramData\Garmin\Trainers\GTN\crshrprts\gtn1\70bbec66-b3bd-4975-9162-df462e18eb9f"

In this folder, you'll find a file: crashrpt.xml which content is most needed!
