PMDG 747-400 Queen of the Skies II "shaking/wobblig engines"

Recommended Posts

Hi,

after installing the new update v3.00.9008 the 4 engines are shaking/ wobbling in a not realistic way. It happens also on the ground while the engines are in idle.

I did uninstall the update v3.00.9008 and install the last version v3.00.8415. The version v3.00.8415 does not have that problem.

It must be a problem with the update v3.00.9008.

I do have FSX. I wanted to buy the new 747-8 but I will "wait". Maybe there will be a solution for that.

I think this has been brought up and replied to and is being worked on.  The -8 has the engine wobble too.  Its pretty pronounced as well.

I'd wait for the update and see if it fixes it, as it looks like it was one of the things that was addressed. They did have some technical issues with trying to get the update out, but as soon as they have it sorted, they'll have the update out.

Yes, indeed,

after installing the update 3.00.9019 the problem with the engines seems to be solved.

Thanks PMDG for the great product and a very good customer support.

Do not see this happening as I sit with idle engines, i.e. engines not started which to me is an idle scenario, as to engines running on the ground, in my 747-400 latest Update, at a default airport.

 Hi folks,

no wobbling observed with FSX 3.00.9008, only wings swing slightly during the engines spool up. Very nice.

Shall the engines wobble also slight at their pylons?

(Will install 3.00.9019 now.)

Gents,

The pylon flex model got a pretty significant overhaul between 3.00.9008 and 3.00.9019, in order to reduce the potential impact of FPS surges triggering problems in the physics modeling.  (Even though you can't see it, occasionally users would get a couple of hyper-update cycles with a REALLLLY small time deltas and this would cause the math to get completely out of wonk since it is based on a differential equation based on time.)

The new equation is running in 9019 and **should** be more robust.

DANGER HERE THO:  Some of you may notice the airplane "tremble" while parked at idle power with the parking break off.  This is characterized as a gentle rocking side to side at fairly high frequency.  This is a Prepar3D problem and has nothing to do with the 747.  You can see it in nearly all of the default P3D aircraft also...  Please don't confuse the two.
