Locked RAAS not initiating on PMDG 744 F and BCF models

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

since the last mayor update to the PMDG 744 I am having a problem with RAAS (the restricted version).

The module is not loading (not appearing in the P3D menu) for BFC and F model. However it is loading and working for PAX and ERF models...

(BTW it also loads and works with Aerosoft Airbus A319)

In ALL models the option in the aircraft RAAS INSTALLED is set to YES !!

What could be the problem here? Any help would be highly appreciated !

best regards

I posted that also in the PMDG forum - with not much feedback actually...There seem to be some people which are having problems with RAAS since the last updated (which was a required full install, and I tried it already twice)

But I didnt get any response from anyone to my suggest to also try if it is model-related as in my case.........

hmmm...not a lot of feedback unfortunately.

I meanwhile made another attempt installing everything from scratch. I ran the RAAS uninstaller, I uninstalled the  PMDG 744 and also Aerosoft Airbus, I cleared all leftover folders from RAAS.

Then I installed the PMDG again from scratch...Same result: No RAAS in those models

I installed Airbus and RAAS is working there again

So now what to do ???  :)

Hi Manolo,

I've haven't heard anything back either.

All is pretty quiet on the RAAS front.

I suspect your DLL.xml may be buggered up.

If there's an issue with RAAS, in 99 percent of all cases it's a buggered DLL.xml.

Send me a support ticket and I'll send you my DLL.xml you can use as at test.

Thanks Bryan, I will happily do that. Could you send me a link to where to do it please (EDIT:disregard, I havent seen it below)..

But just in case:  I will paste all dll.xml  I have, maybe there is something wrong and I can fix it easily myself:

the one in P3D main directory RAASPRO/Res  looks like this:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1252"?>

<SimBase.Document Type="Launch" version="1,0">
  <Descr>Launch</Descr>
  <Filename>dll.xml</Filename>
  <Disabled>False</Disabled>
  <Launch.ManualLoad>False</Launch.ManualLoad>
  <Launch.Addon>
    <Name>RAASPRO</Name>
    <Disabled>False</Disabled>
    <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>
    <Path>.\RAASPRO\RAASPRO.dll</Path>
    <DllStartName>module_init</DllStartName>
    <DllStopName>module_deinit</DllStopName>
  </Launch.Addon>
</SimBase.Document>

The one in Programm data looks like this:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<SimBase.Document Type="AceXML" version="3,0" id="dll">
    <Descr>AceXML Document</Descr>
    <Filename>dll.xml</Filename>
  <Launch.Addon>
    <Name>PMDG_Interface</Name>
    <Disabled>False</Disabled>
    <Path>PMDG\DLLs\PMDG_Interface.dll</Path>
    <DllStartName>module_init</DllStartName>
    <DllStopName>module_deinit</DllStopName>
  </Launch.Addon>
  <Launch.Addon>
    <Name>RAASPRO</Name>
    <Disabled>False</Disabled>
    <Path>.\RAASPRO\RAASPRO.dll</Path>
    <DllStartName>module_init</DllStartName>
    <DllStopName>module_deinit</DllStopName>
  </Launch.Addon>
</SimBase.Document>

(and the one in roaming P3D , which probably isnt intefering here) looks like that:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1252"?>
<SimBase.Document Type="Launch" version="1,0">
  <Descr>Launch</Descr>
  <Filename>dll.xml</Filename>
  <Disabled>False</Disabled>
  <Launch.ManualLoad>False</Launch.ManualLoad>
  <Launch.Addon>
    <Name>FSUIPC 5</Name>
    <Disabled>False</Disabled>
    <Path>C:\P3D V4\Modules\FSUIPC5.dll</Path>
  </Launch.Addon>
  <Launch.Addon>
    <Name>FSTramp</Name>
    <Disabled>False</Disabled>
    <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>
    <Path>C:\Program Files (x86)\FSTramp\FSTrampX.dll</Path>
  </Launch.Addon>
  <Launch.Addon>
    <Name>as_connect</Name>
    <Disabled>False</Disabled>
    <Path>as_srv\as_connect_64.dll</Path>
  </Launch.Addon>
</SimBase.Document>

I want you to use my original DLL.xml.

The DLL.xml file can be a finicky little thing.  PMDG has a whole section dedicated to it on their support page.

In the good old days you could just drop a DLL into the Modules folder and that was that, but then Microsoft decided to get fancy and make our lives complicated with the DLL.xml system.

Send me a support ticket via the Contact Page at:

Hi Bryan, I am a bit confused now. I already opened a ticket yesterday and already got some answers to it  (ticket number: 4049):

Strangely I got some answers  by email stating that PMDG said that " RAAS was working in the -8" !!

I dont have the -8, I am talking only  about the 747-400 BCF and F models

best regads

RAAS not working on both PMDG 744 and 747-8
Hi ********,

RAAS is produced and distributed by FS2Crew so you will actually need to contact Bryan York at FS2Crew and see what he can offer you for a solution to this issue.

RAAS not working on both PMDG 744 and 747-8

Hi there,
unfortunately the RAAS is not working on my 747 aircraft. The 748 has RAAS "installed" in Airline option and also one of my 744 aircraft. In my P3Dv4 folder there is a RAAS folder with sub directories. So system wise it seem to be installed. What else can I check to find out why no runway announcement is heard when on the runway? I've already seem the RAAS tap in P3D and all the settings for my sound option are correct.

It's usually:

1. You're at a 3rd party airport and you failed to run "MakeRunways".  This is assuming RAAS appears in your ADDONS menu (will happen after about 30 seconds).

2. If RAAS doesn't appear in your ADDONS menu, your DLL.xml is likely corrupt.

Check 1 first.  If after running Make Runways the issue persists, try it a default airport,  and if nothing, send me a suppport ticket so I can send you my DLL.xml.
