Need help: still framerate drop with new install

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I need all suggestions/ideas to solve my issue.

Over time I was losing fps till it drops to low teens and starts to stutter.

So this weekend I uninstalled P3Dv4.3 and reinstalled it. Only FlyTampa Amsterdam Schiphol installed. No other addons installed. No third party weather engine , no third party water. No AI.

Just a flight from Amsterdam to Athens ( LGAV ).

At startup high fps . Over time franerate drops which does show at approach.

After a 3h flight from Amsterdam to default Athens the framerate had dropped to 10-12 fps.

Then I rebooted P3Dv4.3 and loaded my aircraft at Schiphol rw 24. Still low fps :

Then I rebooted the pc and immediately loaded P3Dv4.3 at Schiphol rw 24. High fps :

I have tried with a default plane ( Baron ) and my Prosim 737 . Both show the same outcome.

Tried with 2 different 1080 Ti cards so it is not the gpu.

When trying Passmark tests it shows no problems.

My question : can you help me ?

1 By making a flight from Amsterdam to Athens. Note the max starting framerate  and arrival framerate ( with Unlimited ). Use your locked or undocked framerate after that as you like it.

2 Shutdown at Athens and reload Amsterdam where you have started. Note the framerate in Unlimited.

3 Now shutdown P3Dv4.3 , reboot the pc and startup P3D at the same spot at Amsterdam. Note the framerate in Unlimited.

I downclocked my 7940x from 4.8 to max 4.4 boost.

At this moment I am out of options. The last resort is a W10 reinstall.

Thanks

Can you completely exclude hardware issues? It sounds like something is throttling down because of overheat?

Cpu is max 53 degrees Celcius

GPU max 62 degrees Celcius

I am starting to think that it might be the mobo...

Sounds like next test is to repeat, but shut down the system, allow it to cool to ambient temp. Then boot up

That is like the pc reboot which I did and gave my high fps back .  No need to cool down ..

Exactly, a P3D reboot does not solve this.

Only a pc reboot is helping and I can immediately startup P3D and the framerate is back up

Check your GPU usage %?

As the vids show not so high GPU usage...

Pausing the Sim and setting all AG to off has almost no effect. The framerate stays low.

Only a pc reboot brings the fps back...

Ok I am unable to view the videos right now.  Have u tried taking a screen shot of your task manager processes before and after the issue?  I had a very strange issue where two separate instances of p3d were running at the same time that caused some fps issues.  I would close one out and fps returned to normal.  Even sometimes after a reboot p3d would start to load automatically.  Very odd.  Have u tried setting your mobo bios to default settings?  Maybe one of the cpu power state settings went haywire?  Is bios still showing your installed memory and speed set correctly?  Mobo voltages staying consistent?  Dust build up?  Voltage issue to GPU?  Reinstall graphics driver?

How old is your motherboard are you aware that the x299 had VRM heat issue over a year ago which causes it to throttle.

Strange, i can run my 7920X at 5ghz 10cores without any fps drops have the sim running for 20 hours , essa-glcp-essa-lclk-essa have same fps on both returns to essa

the sim was not restarted only refuled the aircraft and then back to essa.

seems as the mobo trigger someting vrm temp or max current, cpu current temp or something else that ned a rebooth to reset.

i can not the Giga mobo, have similar with the asus mobo with the 7980XE lot of tweaking  the current and power settings before i get it to run without issiues.

oc 5.0 all 18 cores. with ht off

P3D and other apps start after boot when they were not completely closed before shutdown. That is W10...

Cou power states are off.

The CPU is not throttling. It stays at 4.4 with little heat. ( Normalky 4.8 )

How can I check mobo voltages and voltage to the GPU ?

The GPU keeps running at good speeds  and no overload.

When I Pause the Sim at those 10-11 the franerate goes up to 17-19 and does not recover if I leave it that way fir 10 minutes.

No dusk in the case and very good airflow.

Have you tried doing a graphics driver wipe and reinstalling the latest NVIDIA driver?

Other things which can cause this... running out of memory, so Windows directs the use of a page file.

I was thinking memory also. Possibly a memory leak that builds over time.
