Anyone have an interesting service-based failures yet?

Recommended Posts

Flying with service-based failures is always exciting to me because it really keeps you in your toes knowing something can break pretty much anytime.

Anyone get any interesting failures yet or notice any other quirks that made you pull out the QRH?

I always enable it. I believe it gives meaning to checklists and flows. If the plane is always going to work perfectly, what's the point?

. Which leads me to mention that the release of Global Flight Ops will add a whole new layer of motivation to use checklists. Jumping into a used airplane with possible faults makes thing more interesting.

I know there's a lot of money in aviation because I put it there.

I’ve only had what one might call Pilot-Based Failures...

I had a hot engine a couple of weeks ago due to low engine oil pressure in the 744. I shut the engine down following the QRH and slapped myself for forgetting to check the oil level. Though I could complete the flight, bUt I had a close eye on the other engines as they obviously were low on oil too.

Note that service based failures require you to fly the same registration every time.
