P3D Default Autoflight Disconect on CDU Message

Recommended Posts

Hi Captains,I seem to be getting a "Beep-Beep-Beep-Beep"(four times) continuously, until I cancel the CDU message. I think is is a default autopilot disconnect, cant seem to locate the source.

Thanks Jim

Sorry its on the B747-800

Can you be more specific about the timing of this? If it's when you're disengaging the autopilot, it's worth noting that we mention in the Intro Manual (and have for the last few products) that AP disenagement must be done with the AP Disconnect button (on the yoke), and it must be pressed twice (once to disengage, and a second time to confirm that the action was intentional).

Do you mean CDU message, or EICAS message?

Hi, I have a similar issue with the B747-400 in the Tutorial 1 flight. I followed the tutorial correctly and the first two attempts went off without a hitch. I try the tutorial at least once per day to familiarize myself with it. Lately, randomly during the flight (some times during the climb, other times during cruise or decent the autopilot disengaged message appears, the warning sound goes and the autopilot disconnects. Trying to engage the autopilot again it stays on for a few seconds, then disengage again and again causing me to abort the flight as everything goes haywire in terms of altitude, speed, Vnav and lnav, etc. Any ideas on what causes this behavior will be appreciated. Regards, Johann

Usually means that you have a trim axis on your hardware that you have not set to zero, prior to engaging the autopilot.

Thanks for the reply's,I have always mapped the A/P disconnect button on PMDG A/C thru FSUIPC, to the default key assignment in CDU, to the appropriate button on my yoke. As I have PFC Cirrus II,I always disable the R/H yoke button except elevator trim rocker switch on my  left hand side.(cannot change that in PFC menu). I will try mapping a different key to PMDG auto flight disconnect, and get back to the forum with the results,

Thanks Jim

Edit, the beeping is tied to all CDU messages.
