The Great C: Cinematic Virtual Reality Movie

Recommended Posts

Probably not for the kiddies, but a great showcase of the use of Virtual reality as a new media for storytelling. This, and AAA virtual experiences like Senua's sacrifice, show content creators steadily increasing sophistication in expanding and exploring the boundaries of virtual reality!

Costs about $5.99 in the Oculus store or on Steam

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

The Great C is not actually one of Philip K Dick's better short stories, since it does have a rather large plot hole. Having said that, since I don't know how this particular adaptation plays out, the makers may have chosen to do something more with the story by addressing that plot hole specifically, which could actually take the story to somewhere a bit more interesting than where the original, rather weak and unsatisfying ending, stops the narrative at.

I don't know the original short story, but this animated vr movie is a work of art. I saw it in comfort mode, will try the fully cinematic mode later.

If I'd have to find a criticism, I'd say the constant changes of scale are not necessary, and don't bring anything to the story. Maybe they make more sense with the cinematic mode.
Everything else is so well made I'll probably watch it several times. The surroundings of each scene is gorgeous. Every character's movement is absolutely perfect, motion must have been used.

All the best,

Pascal
