Making P3D colours look like FSX

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I moved last week from FSX to P3D. Maybe I don't have the right wording but for me the cockpit and scenery colors are "whiter", "brighter" than FSX. Maybe "washed".

I believe that is well known? What I can do to malke the P3D colours resemble those of FSX? I fly A2A aircrafts and have FTX Global, Vector, OpenLC USA + Europe.

Thanks.

You should look into getting a products like PTA or Envshade, either one of them is a must have for anyone running P3D.

I like PTA and there are lots of presets that you can experiment with to get the colors you like best.

PTA in concert with the P3D HDR settings..."saturation" in particular.   Together, this has gotten rid of the cartoon-blue water in my sim.

It's still very blue in the tropics on a sunny day, but at least now, in overcast Lake Michigan it is a nice slate/blue/gray.

Shadermods like P3D Tweak Assist (PTA) and the free TomatoShade seem to create a lot of problems and require endless settings adjustment which is just not my thing. You've also got things like ENBserie (not needed so much on P3D) and ReShade that sit outside the simulator and inject shader tweaks.

I'd go with what Tomaz said, tweak the HDR settings or disable HDR altogether in P3D, that should get the colours similar to default FSX. I tweaked mine a bit and used the time preview feature to check it was right across all times of day.

Hi Folks,

I really like ENVSHADE - set it and forget it...

Inexpensive and a massive improvement - no fuss - that's bang for your buck...

Scott

Hi all,

Many thanks. I'll try HDR, and if not enough wiht get ENVSHADE .

Their website and SimMarket says:

  • 2 supported simulators

    • Prepar3D v4 (v4.1 and v4.2)

    • Prepar3D v3 (v3.4 only)

Does it work on 4.3 too?

I turned off HDR and recovered the FSX colours.

I would like to give a try to ENVSHADE. If I install it, do I need to turn HDR on?

I run with HDR on during daylight and off at night - with ENVSHADE - it brightens everything too much at night... I’m pretty happy with how my sim looks...
