Best way to open .cab files on FS9 discs

Featured Replies

What is the best way to open the .cab files on the FS9 cds to find a certain file you need? I found a try-before-you buy payware program that allows you to see what is in the cab files and copy them where you want. Is that the only way or is there another, if there is a simpler way I quess I just missed it. Thanks for the help!Regards,Joe

It is a pain but you can use in a command window the extract command with various parameters.I prefer the payware Winzip but there masy be others that give you a GUI listing of .cab files. In the free Microsoft FS panel/gauge SDK there is a cab utilty to build them. I am not familiar with it but perhaps it will do what you need. Here is a beta copy of freeware utility Quick Zip I quickly tried:http://www.tucows.com/get/194312_74405that seems to work. It is from a reliable library. Use it at your "own risk". I recommend that you do not set it as an automatic startup based on file extention. It does show cab file contents.

In Windows XP, just right-click and choose "open".
