P3dV4.....new computer

My video card on my gaming laptop just failed. The warranty I have stipulates that the machine is to be returned, fixed, in five days max or the machine will be replaced. So in three more days I may be getting another machine.

I have a question re p3dv4. I have one drive dedicated to P3d. Would it work to simply have that drive installed in the new machine? Are there other procedures to follow to make it work?

Depending on how licensing is keyed to your system, you might have to go thru the process of licensing again.  Be prepared with your old key and keep P3D's tech support email handy in case you have problems.

I do not know the details of the license, whether you would have to license a new copy or not.  Most companies do not allow for transfer of licenses, add-on maker Carenado does though, others do.

Honestly I would do a uninstall/deactivation then reinstall on the new computer.  Does this drive have the operating system on it as well?

The disk has only P3d on it. The laptop has three drives so I took one exclusively for P3d. The o/s is on another drive.

No problem at all. Uninstall P3D from your old rig (be connected to internet). Then you are eligible to activate it on your new one.

Yes as Harry has stated above.

You can also just Deactivate the Prepar3D Client on your current computer,  this will release the license from your operating system. Then proceed to Install and activate Prepar3D on your new computer or drive.
