Problem with the zoom factor P3D V4

Recommended Posts

Hello everybody 🙂
I have installed P3D V4 with the PMDG aircraft.
The 777LR / F and 777-300ER and the 747-400 and 747-8
What annoys me totally is the zoom factor of 0.30 🤔
The problem with the zoom factor I have with all aircraft.
With + and - I can change the value, but that can not be the solution.
Can someone please tell me where I can change the zoom value?
I'd like to take the Zoom value at .40 on PMDG planes or some other value.
Please help !

You can use a piece of software called chaseplane which allows you to set up custom views with all different settings.

also enable wide view aspect.

And the mouse wheel and space bar allows you to set the zoom.

This isn't us.

The post, above, shows where to find the Cameras.cfg.

Change the zoom levels listed in there (for the VC entry) from 0.3 to something more reasonable like 0.7 or 0.8.

Thanks for your help
I have changed the value in the Cameras.cfg but only nothing has changed in the VC of the aircraft of PMDG. The value is still 0.30
Is there no way to change the zoom value for PMDG aircraft only?
There is certainly under the cfg of PMDG aircraft the point where you can change that.

There might be, but I can't think of any case where we set the zoom level that low.

It's more likely your cameras.cfg, and/or your default flight.

Not sure - I've never set those up in our files. I just know how to set the global zoom levels.

With Chaseplane, I just use whatever community profile looks good.

just figured out how lol, in the camera definition section in the aircraft cfg. it gives you data for xyz, zoom, pan, tilt etc. The default PMDG 747-400 overwing view is perfect

Don't forget there are TWO different types of "zoom" being talked about in this thread.  The P3D "zoom" by using the "+" and "-" keys (which adjusts the OUTSIDE "zoom" view of the sim (the 0.30, 0.40, etc, etc shown in the sim window), and the "Eyepoint" views using other keyboard combinations that adjust the "view" of the Virtual Cockpit panels (you can move the panel eyepoint "Forward/Back", "Up/Down", etc).

Lots of newer users don't know you can set the outside view and the Eyepoint position for the cockpit panel separately.  I routinely set the Outside view value first (change it to 0.60 or 0.70 or whatever), THEN adjust the panel Eyepoint View to get the cockpit panel where I want it.
