Beta 3.4 Sounds

Recommended Posts

Just wondering what sound file that is that sounds like avionics/battery running in the VC even when battery is off? looked through the sound folder and didnt find it. So far sounds are good, but that through me for a loop trying to figure out what in the world was powered up with everything off..maybe a bug? wasnt sure if its supposed to be there. taking off out of palm beach now headed for colorado, we'll see how she does!

Same here. After selecting “All Systems Off”, I hear a continuous noise that sounds like a cooling fan running. The volume changes as I move around in the VC. It seems to be loudest in the center.

Also, I have lost the APU sound, switch click sounds, and trim clacker sound.  They were working in all previous versions through 3.3, but are gone in 3.4 with the revamped sound set. Engine sounds do work.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Beta 3.4 twice, but no joy on the missing sounds.

P3D 4.3, Win 10 Pro.

I've got the APU Sound, but its the same as it was before, same sound clip inside or out. as far as the engine sounds, doesnt sound a whole lot different, still doesnt have the distinct TFE Whine at full throttle. the lear actually sounds more like the falcon 50 should, I may just copy that soundset over. Its not bad by any means, but I actually prefer to go back to the old sounds fromt he last beta..good thing I still have a copy lol. As far as the FDE...im about 30 minutes from landing right now. So far, its better, but still wants to wander all over the place in terms of speed. I unplugged by flight controller and used keyboard to adjust...no real change. Cruise at 78.4% N1 netted around .80mach. but just backing of to 78% and speed fell to .69 mach...im sorry but thats just not right when 4 thenths of a percent in N1 changes speed that drastically especially when its down well below 90%, where in a turbine, most of your punch is roughly 90-92% and up. Starting to get frustrated and wishing they would just install an "STC" for an autothrottle lol. love the bird, but its getting old having to constantly screw with the power the entire flight. God forbid I have to go to the bathroom, i come back and shes either blowing through the sound barrier (ok not really, but ya get my drift) or about to stall LOL.

UPDATE RE: MISSING SOUNDS

I discovered that the APU, switch click and trim clacker sounds are working immediately after a fresh reinstallation of Beta 3.4. However, once I run the management tool to install a single instance of the RXP GTN750, the sounds are no longer audible when the newly-installed GTN is present.

If I uninstall the GTN, and go back to the default GPS, the sounds start working again.

Obviously there is some kind of conflict, but I don’t know if it on the FSW end, or the RXP end. The switch click sounds that are part of the GTN itself do work.

I was previously using the F1 GTN750, which had no negative effect on the sounds.

I’m not seeing the speed issue at all, and haven’t had the problem in any previous version. I just completed a flight with a 60-minute cruise segment at FL380, using Active Sky weather. I have three hardware throttles. It’s hard to get them to sync up perfectly, but after leveling off, I ended up with #1 at 78.2, #2 at 77.8 and #3 at 78.4. This gave me a steady Mach 0.80, so I left the throttles alone and monitored speed for the next hour. N1 never varied at all, and the aircraft stuck to Mach 0.80 like glue.

During the cruise segment, my headwind dropped from 46 knots to 40 knots, and the TAT warmed from -34C to -29C. The warming TAT brought the barber pole a little closer to my current IAS than it was initially, but other than that, I held a steady Mach 0.80 for a full hour without having to touch the throttles even once.

This has been typical on every flight I have done at altitude

I hear it now and i am going to fix this tonight.

UPDATE: Fixed. once of the interior engine sounds on the graph decided to lose its first section of the graph so it had no way to stop playing the sound. But when i developed it engines 1 never did that. So not sure how that happened.

Coping the L35A sounds will not work. Unless you rewrite the cfg to handle 3 engines and make more sounds files.

And yes we did record the whine from the F50 and add this sound. Now it whines much better at high rpm than the original we made. Did you see the vote we had on the FB group. They like the new sounds much better.

I also like the new sounds. The characteristic whine is closer to what I hear from real TFE731 engines at high power settings.

Although the whine from a TFE731 is nowhere near as loud or penetrating as the whine from a Pratt & Whitney JT15D. At an airport, you can always tell when either a Beech 400A or Citation 550 is taking off without even looking.

In both engine types, the whine is caused by the use of a centrifugal HP compressor.

Hi Folks,

We previously mentioned the APU being identical on the outside as it is on the in - which was due to a limitation of the sim...

Just to confirm - I checked the DA CRJ - it does most definitely have different sounds for the APU inside vs out...

I have no clue as to how they do it - or how much effort it was - but it seems possible...

Yep - new sounds are better - thanks so much - one sound I seem to miss that is common today - is something for rolling along the taxiways at low speeds - could be very subtle as this isn't a small bug smasher close to the ground...

Thanks so much...

Regards,

Scott

WOW! I do stand corrected. Messed with my sound card a bit after watching your video trying to figure out why it sounded awsome but on my system it was vanilla..seems I had way too much bass and not near enough mid range and treble in the mixer (I use a 3rd party sound program)..I now can hear the whine!! I couldnt hear it at all before. the best part is ALL my aircraft sound better LOL..just fired up the pratts on my DC3 and wow!...not sure what happened in the migration from FSX to P3Dv4 a few weeks ago but its fixed now. So like I said, I stand corrected..new sounds are a ton better! I do second scott on the apu sound. PMDG has always had interior and exterior apu sounds...it can for sure be done. I honestly think this bird has come a long way! GOOD JOB FLYSIMWARE!! sincerely, you guys did a hell of a job on this bird inside and out!

Hi Folks,

A good video demonstrating RW cockpit sounds with multiple takeoff and landings...

Wish there was a way to model the sound of those tires whining down the runway..always though that was such a cool sound after touchdown.

Accu-Feel from A2A is one way to add some nice runway sound effects.

We already added a runway sound effect, it's not has bumpy as the one from the vid. And you can't make a sound that increases the bump time based on speed. So the one we have gives more of the VC cockpit rattle noises more than the tires hitting grooves.
