First reactions to P3Dv4.4

What I meant was that of course people will see performance improvements when they go from a totally add-on burdened old install of P3D to a completely fresh add-onless install. "Amazing! my sim runs so well withouth 876 add-ons installed to it!" lol!

Yes I understand. Was just having a laugh. An addon of mine prevented the install. I deleted it and all was well. I heard they are working on an update.

Hi

Does anyone else have this problem? When closing P3D it remains running in the background - as seen in Task Manager

Cheers

Chris

I have this issue with 4.3. This is made worse by Windows 10’s lame restart-every-program-that-was-open-when-you-shut-down “feature”

I still do not get it, to me, it is not really helpful that LM constantly insists that besides Client, everything is "optional", this results in the discussion we have now and again. My question: do we profit from the improved autogen and water rendering if the Client alone is updated? I guess no... However, as others stated, doing a full install takes ages, but I might take the plunge nevertheless. But as updating the Client only takes almost no time, I will certainly start off with doing this. If I see already improvements doing so, I might wait for a full reinstall until I have a full weekend off...

I don't know the correct answer to your excellent question but to ease your heart and mind:

These install options seem crazy until one thinks it through like you just did...some have the time and desire others do not. Eventually we all get to a full install for various reasons.

4.4 is only truly 4.4 when one has done a complete uninstall and reinstall. I personally take the time to fully uninstall P3D and every addon, to go with pure default to get a full sense of what 4.4 is. I will slowly add in P3D settings (with and w/o VR) that I prefer, to get a feel of what I can do with my system; if I need to buy a new system then I will. After a couple of weeks (hours a day) of only P3D the compatible add-ons slowly get added over weeks. All of this helps me better understand what affects performance on my system or whether its time for a new system. In the long run after this testing period, I'm essentially enjoying P3D days on end w/o even a hiccup.

Now that the long awaited and most valuable 64-bit is here we should not forget how good we have it....all the rest is the stem of a cherry on top in comparison.

I'm curious how the new scenery load range configuration works.  Anyone tried it out?  Does it stop the long pause that generally occurs when a complex add-on airport loads, or does it just move that long pause further out? (which would still be an improvement not to have it happen during the terminal phase).

Regards

I used to until I used to get so sick and tired of all sorts of niggly little problems and then I fixed it once and for all:

I uninstalled it and bought chaseplane - no more problems.

Thanks.  You don't feel it takes more on the fps than EZDOK ?

I didn't know we had the milky way above our heads. Never seen it before. Maybe all this time shader tweaking had it hidden from me.

It is more likely you flew in the wrong moonphase to see it.

First tryout of 4.4

just make a client update, to run with the same situation that mine stable 4.3

results:

- faster access for loading the first p3d Window.

- on EHAM Amsterdam a gain of 3fps then before. (With most cursors on max) ...is a flying-test that I keep always for tryout of versions...

- sharpness of textures are sure better.

think is a progress version but come back to 4.3, waiting the evolution to 4.4 of tools and aircrafts (as 717 Tdfi hdg don't work)

see you soon on p3dv4.4

No, but I haven't done any comparison test.

It's so worth the money. You'll kick yourself that you didn't do this earlier. The one feature I love is that you can assign the same button to different views and then use that button to "cycle" through your views. For example, I have one button on my joystick that I click and it shows the main panel, then I click it again and it will show landing gear lights and/or throttles, etc I fly small GA aircraft so this is great to quickly check when on final.

Ciao!

Chaseplane is a decent camera add on and is already compatible with v4.4

First class support too.
