ILS never comes alive

Recommended Posts

Second time this happened to me tonight.  First, on approach with the NGX to SCCI 25 ILS.  Never came alive

Now, flyinig the 777, on approach to 25R at LFPG...never comes alive.  Probably something stupid I am forgetting, but I cannot figure it out.  Never had any issues before tonight.

The runway is programmed into the FMC, as is the approach.  I reinstalled the most recent AIRAC, and I cannot select LOC or APP

I assume your name is jeff edward.

first off all what navigation data are you using. Secondly for Paris there is no 25r at LFPG. Which upon closer look at the picture is a spelling mistake in your post. What I can tell from the picture is that the correct frequency and course is displayed so that leads me to think that the scenery you are using is not updated.

Jeff,

as Koen says it is most likely a scenery issue. Do you have an addon CDG scenery or do you use the default P3D airport? Anyway, please check on your sim's map if there are any ILS beams available (and that the frequency matches. If it's just the frequency, use the one from the sim). It got me, too, in the past that I had lost ALL of my default ILS all over the world. I don't know why but I assume their was a faulty fsAerodata update. This said, while you updated your FMS navdata, have you ever updated your scenery? https://www.fsaerodata.com/ is a good source but there might also be free options, I don't know.

Go into Map for the sim and see what frequency it is showing for the approach.

Thanks for the replies.  It appears there is an error with the fsaero data.  When I looked at the map, the freq was 109.1.  I changed it, and despite numerous RW/ILS FREQ ERROR popping up, it came alive.  Sorry about the typo-it was 3am...should have been 26R.

Just in case someone else has a similar issue...

Update on this-I spoke with the FSAerodata support team, and it appears the 3 FSAD entries at the top of the scenery library just disappeared.  I did a disable in FSAerdata app, then reinstalled, and then enabled...the three entries showed up.  Tested it, and all is right with the world.

Thanks for the info, I‘ll check that tomorrow, too.

I have FSAerodata, and the three entries normally are placed at the very top of my scenery library as they should be to insure they will take priority.

However, I have discovered that anytime I open Orbx Central, even if only to check if there have been any updates to Orbx scenery packages I own, it moves the three FSAD entries much farther down in the library - below all my other add-on scenery.

Anytime I use Orbx Central, I then have to open the Lorby Scenery Organizer to move the three FSAD entries back up to the top of the scenery library where they belong.

I have no idea why Orbx Central does this. I do have the Orbx “scenery insertion point” defined in the program,  but that point is much farther down in the library - and Central never rearranges the location of any other add-on scenery - just FSAD.

Orbx FTX Central has always adjust where Orbx entries are entered, this is a user selectable value they call an insertion point. If you need items above Orbx entries then you can set it up to do exactly that.  See the FTX Central user guide and also there is plenty of help on insertion points in the Orbx forum.  In rereading your post, maybe the problem is that your insertion point has changed?  My insertion point is below the TimeFixer I have installed, which itself occupies the top of the stack. Never had a problem with that.

My insertion point is right above “bathemetry” with the Orbx OLC entries above that, and the FTX entries above those, which is just as Orbx suggests. Vector places some entries very low in the scenery library in a specific place that never changes.

That is the recommended place for the insertion point, and I’ve been using it for years.

I have at least 25 custom sceneries above Orbx, with FSAD at the very top in positions 1, 2 and 3, and far away from the Orbx insertion point.

Central, when opened, moves the three FSAD entries below all my other add-on scenery, but still above the Orbx insertion point. Central doesn’t touch the position any of my other non-Orbx scenery add-ons, just the FSAD ones.

That is just weird.  Have you posted this in the Orbx support forum?

All my addon sceneries are added via add-on.xml files except for Orbx and the SimElite Time Fixer... which could be added via add-on.xml but I let it go for lack of interest.  As a result, none of my addons except one are "above" Orbx in the scenery.cfg.  Odd that FSAD entries alone are being moved, I assume you have verified it is FTX Central doing that.  Really odd.

Yes, definitely FTX Central. If I open my library with the Lorby Scenery Organizer, the FSAD entries are on top. Open, then close FTX Central, fire up Lorby again, the the FSAD entries will have moved down toward the center, under most of my other add-ons. It’s easy enough to put them back where they belong with the Lorby Organizer, I just have to remember to do that if I have been using FTX Central.

I’ll ask in the Orbx official forum. I was just reminded of this behavior on my system when the other poster mentioned his FSAD entries had disappeared.
