How to completely remove Aerosoft A320 radar?

Recommended Posts

I wonder if anyone can identify the gauge or gauges which run Aerosoft's airbus "professional"  weather and terrain radar so I can obliterate them? It's a bit like the old joke about Volvo car lights. Whatever you did you could not turn the ****** things off! I'm getting a huge frame rate hit every time the word not allowed radar switches itself on, and it comes on despite switching it off in the radar section of the aircraft. Grateful thanks to anyone with suggestions.

Robert, are you sure you are a "Commercial Member?"  You don't sound  like one.

- However, to get an answer to your question, I have never heard anyone (not one single person) saying that the Terrain Radar causes any frame rate impact. Therefore, I would suggest that you do a clean uninstall and re-install after disabling your AV.

If that doesn't help, please move to the Aerosoft Support forum for assistance.

Was the first part of your post  necessary? Mr Young has been part of Avsim for 15+ years and was part of the RealAir team; a commercial entity that produced amazing, some say the best, GA aircraft you could buy. I believe he’s renowned for developing flight models. To that point, he’s somewhat of a  promenade ‘commercial member.’  In the feature, you may want to consider not asking such rhetorical questions; otherwise, you may come off as word not allowed...

Mr Young, I believe the wx radar is intigraded into the ‘main’ gauge; thus, I don’t believe it can be independently removed. I find Aersoft wx radar to be highly inaccurate, especially when compared to PMDGs modeling.

Yearh, me too...

Although, best you don't mention that thought on their support forum. The general consensus there (between mods and developers) is that the weather radar built into the AS Airbus, is miles better than anything ever developed by anyone ever and it's the best thing since sliced bread...

PDon't get me wrong - not a bad word against Aerosoft or their support, however in this regard, I usually 'tune out' and ignore the discussion, when they begin their praises of their accomplishments in this endeavor...

Sorry, people... rant off - and sorry for de-railing topic.

Really Anders? Not even you believe what you have posted. Their terrain and especially the weather radar is one of- or THE- best radar in the sim market.

Well, sorry my friend, I guess we have different opinions. As a developer or commercial member it would be more prudent to seek support at Aerosoft's support forum, rather than to bash them on this forum. So, yeah 15 years or 100  as a commercial member means ZERO when you're asking for assistance in a derogatory manner.

Peace

Derogatory?  What part of his post did you find derogatory?  Stating he has an issue is far from being derogatory. BTW, when did it become frowned upon to ask fellow Avsim visitors for assistance?   To your mind, what subjects should be discussed on a website dedicated to flight simulators?  Surely there’s room to seek technical advice from the myriad of gifted posters who occupy this space.

Completely agree, Anders.  I know longer discuss the subject on their forums.

What exactly do you mean by that? Don't second guess my posts, please! That's just annoying. To be honest, if anyone's acting derogatory, it's you.

I guess we just have to agree to disagree. Personally I find the PMDG/Hifi ActiveSky weather radar implementation much better. But again, it's pointless to discuss this.

On a side not - no-ones is bashing anybody! I don't really understand how you derive the conclusions you do, from the posts in here.

Hi Joe,

Actually I changed my profile to NON commercial member but it still shows here as commercial despite attempts to remove it. Apologies for that. I retired over two years ago after 23 years designing freeware for 6 years and payware (17 years). Developers are human too and get frustrated like everyone else, though if you look at my post again you'll see it was interlaced with an attempt at humour which perhaps passed you by. Actually if you look at not recent but historic posts over many years regarding the Airbus, you'll see there have been many posts about the difficulty of turning the radar off, even when you have apparently done so. The Aerosoft Airbus collection is very good, with particularly great looking panels.

I completely understand that you thought I was some nut case posting recklessly about something I knew nothing about. No worries and have a good week.

Robert
