FATAL Error with Aerosoft EDDS Professional for P3D4

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

At my P3D4 installation VOXATC terminates withe 'FATAL Error' while trying to activate it at EDDS on a flight to EDDF.
While flying from EDDF to EDDS it works flawless.
Both are the updated Aerosoft Sceneries for EDDS and EDDF.

I attached the logfile output of my last attempt to fly from EDDS to EDDF.

Heres what I did:
- I did set up the sim at EDDS.
- Tryied to lauch VOXATC at EDDS with a loaded Flighplan.
- VOXATC terminated with FATAL ERROR after the usual test announcements and quite some time initializing...
- I flew to EDDF without VOXATC. 😞
- After reaching the parking position at EDDF, I loaded a flightplan back to EDDS.
- Launching VOXATC at EDDF worked.

The logfile shows a lot weired errors I have no clue about.
Maybe anybody can shed me some insights what is wrong with EDDS and what needs to be fixed there to make VOXATC work.

Cheers Stephan.

Here are some things to consider so that the rest of us can better understand the error. Which is higher in scenery library, Aerosoft EDDS or fsaerodata's three entries? Do you have any other versions of EDDS installed, such as the one that comes with My Traffic 6? Have you tried a different flightplan other than the one you used for departing EDDS that failed? If you recently changed something in the scenery library, did you run the VOXATC Indexer again before running P3d4?

No Other EDDS installed. Just basic P3D4 setup plus those 2 airports and of course the full ORBX Suite for Germany North and South.

The FATAL ERROR appears regardless if fsaerodata is above or below EDDS.
Actually I have it placed on top of everything.

VOXATC Indexer has been run after each an every single change anywhere... 😉

Even I tried uninstalling EDDF and EDDS. Same thing.
Tried some other airports - VOXATC works - so far...

Guess its that weired EDDS problem again I alread read about in this forum somwhere...

Cheers
Stephan

Do the N and S Germany regions contain any airport correction files? I know the regions all update a lot of small airports but a few of the NA regions also correct stuff at bigger airports like elevation and missing runways.

Unlike the sim which will happily ignore most errors in 3rd party airport runway and taxiway networks, VOXATC doesn't. It doesn't like orphaned parking spots, overlapping taxiway nodes or having two taxiways with the same designator. If VOXATC can't route either the user's or AI aircraft correctly, it will generate a fatal error. Sometimes one can find and fix these problems with Airport Design Editor.

I don't have Aerosoft EDDS but maybe someone who does can take a look at the ADE file.

I think you said you looked over the other threads on EDDS and VOXATC, but if not, here's one:

I'm looking around the Internet to see if anyone had uploaded a revised Aerosoft EDDS ADE file, so I can take a look at it.

There's a recent ADE file for Aerosoft EDDS right here in the AVSim library. It has a lot of orphaned nodes, orphaned and unconnected paking (gates mostly), open links and hold short nodes too far from the runway. None of these issues would cause an error in P3d4, but VOXATC might not like some or all of them. There are few other minor issues, but it doesn't surprise me that VOXATC is messed up with this airport. Then again, the one in the AVSim library is an edited version.

Currently testing the trial version. After flying the sample scenario, today, I tried a flight from EDNY to EDDS with the same FATAL ERROR.

Created another flight plan with Plan-G from EDTX to EDDM. Last log lines after enabling VOXATC:

It seems to be a problem with Aerosoft EDNY BGL EDNY_AFX-OP03.BGL as the last file processed by VOXATC.
Althouth EDNY isn't touched by this flight, VOXATC seems to check the airports some hundred miles around (LOWI, LSZH, EDDN, EDDS, EDDF SID/STAR ...).

I know from former ADE corrections that problems with taxiways are difficult to cleanup on bigger airports if one doesn't know the exact location of the problem.

No hint in the log what VOXATC doesn't like means: no chance to correct the issue in a timely manner. So why doesn't VOXATC give me hints about the problem ?

Considering: repairing third party airports has to be documented and re-applied after an update.

As I searched only for a voice recognition program and testing time will be over in a few days, it seems, I have to drop VOXATC - although my first impression about it was very well: fine documentation, sample scenarios that guided me.

I will use the remaining testing time for further flights outside the southern german area.

Hi All,

I was experiencing the same errors, and was desperate to find a solution because EDDS is one of my favourite destinations.

By trial and error I found that the fault lies somewhere in OrbX Germany south, so I did this:
In scenery config set all four Germany south entries to off (false). Then run VoxATC indexer.

After that reactivate Germany South, and problem solved (At least in my case).
Downside is that everytime you have installed new scenery and need to run the indexer, you need to deactivate Germany South again and reactivate it afterwards

I hope it will help you guys too!

Jaap

What you are doing is causing the VOXATC Indexer to ignore all the updated airports included in the Germany South add-on. The sim will still see them. That works, but you might be better off in the long run trying to figure out which ORBX airport is messed up. I'd start with the obvious choice of disabling the ORBX versions of any arrival and departure airports. Then I would look at airports along the flight path.

Generally speaking, having more than one 3rd party version of an airport active in your scenery library causes problems with both the sim and VOXATC. Add-ons like the ORBX regions and FTX Vector install a lot of airports, so often it's difficult to troubleshoot what's going on. The freeware app Little NavMap can show you which files are being used for a specific airport.
