GTN650 Black Screen (resolved)

Recommended Posts

Thank you for your enduring patience.

This shows sometimes, systems and software interactions are complex and it takes time to pin point probable causes and find out possible solutions.

We're trying our best for situations like this not to happen, and this shows: we're pride our forums are far from being flooded with problem reports.

I'm glad it is all sorted out on your system, and I'm glad to learn this is not a bug in our product in the end! 😀

Hello,

I've been using the RXP GTN 750 with good success in P3D v4 for a while. After I upgraded to P3D v4.4, I only get a black screen.

I used Nirsoft's AppCrashViewer and it shows that the App crashes.

Any suggestions?

Thank you

Klaus

Same here on a new Prepar3D v4.4 installation.

Black screen, re-installed, no cure.

Hope to find a solution soon.

Unless there is a compelling reason, I do not swap to 4.4 until all of my usual addons state they are compatible. I recall issues with the FSL A320 install where it would crash the machine because its earlier version(then 4.2) was being read by P3D. Now I am much more cautious of P3D updates...I then also have to decide on the method of P3D update..

Hi,

P3D4.4 is not the issue in this case and our products are fully updated to P3D4.4.

The issue shown above has to do with the Garmin trainer and our implementation instead, probably due to a problem with the graphics drivers (Nvidia it seems in the report?)

Can you please post the content of the RXP log files? (see User's Manual for file/path).

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. Here are the log files:

rxpGtnSim.dll.log:

18/12/28 14:43:50.943 08972 INFO ] GTN: 01 ..\..\src\krnl\krnl_lib\sim\hwm_nand_drvr_sim.c(827) (null)

rxpGTN.gau.log:

I also tried to create the 2 other log-files by including this into the RealityXP.GTN.ini file of two airplanes I was using which had the RXP GTN 750 configured:

[GTN_750_1]

DebugValue = 1        ; 1 to enable video card driver debug logs
LogTrainer = 1           ; 1 to enable Garmin Trainer logs

; is the master device if true.
MasterDevice = true
; selects COM/NAV Radios '1' or '2'.
RadiosPair = 1
.....

I was unable to find more rxp*.log files. Where should they be? Did I do the right thing by including the two lines into the RealityXP.GTN.ini files in the respective airplane's folder in simobjects?

I hope this helps.

Thank you.

Klaus

P.S.: I am using the latest Nvidia driver version 417.35 for a GTX 970 card

This is the key. There are discussions already in the forum with resolution when this message shows up in the log. It is just a matter of either missing folder or access rights to the installation folders.

Addendum: I've merge the discussion to the one with resolution for this. Look p2 for the very same log message and suggestions. Please make sure to search for 'black screen' in the forum before creating a new discussion.

I have the same issue described here, so I opened the Garmin trainer itself and powered up the 750 and it has a blank screen also, so it's not just within FSX. Uninstalled and re-installed the trainer, then added myself as an admin with full rights. Still the same problem. Uninstalled again; no virus protection running and turned off firewall; ran install as admin; same issue.

I'm also having the same issue. The GTN750 and 650 are stuck with the screen blank and "starting" in the left lower corner.

On the other hand, the GNS 430/530 units work just fine.

For me this is with the A2A C172. I've tried the installation suggestion but it still doesn't load

@mypupdaisy @Caribpilot Hi, like you might have read in this discussion (the 3 pages of it) the best tool to start a diagnostic is the log files. Can you please review the user's manual troubleshooting section, add the 'debug' settings manually to the ini file, then post the content of the log files like @khwsommer has done above?

@Caribpilot thank you for the log files but it doesn't seem you've added the 'debug' settings manually to the ini file like described in the User's Manual. Can you please confirm?
