Carenado in X-Plane

Daft question ....  if the SAAB never had an auto throttle,  why is a vnav button on the mcp ?

There are several aircraft with VNAV functionality that lack autothrottle (e.g. the Dash 8 Q400), so it lies in the pilot's responsibility to constantly monitor and adjust the power/thrust levers to prevent stalls or overspeeds and to stay in the desired performance envelope.

However, from what I learned watching cockpit videos and listening to real world pilots, VNAV is rarely used in those aircraft and if so, then mostly for descents.

Hehe. Think I was half asleep. I have the Dash 8 !

I guess some SAABs with full FMS in RW have working VNAV.

I hope they transfer their ATR-72 to X Plane soon.In social media, one person brought up the Dash-7. That would be nice to.I mentioned that to Carenado, and one my posts. With X Plane getting better, time to do some short runway flying.

Just read a story about ATR designing a STOL version of the 42 series. Something worthwhile with X Plane. Hint hint Carenado!!!

It's just a tweaked 42-600. Nothing to write home about.

They're talking about a 800 m/2400 ft takeoff run, so it won't even be close to a Dash 7 in terms of STOL performance.

I've encountered an issue today with a number of the X-Plane Carenado aircraft. So far, the SAAB S340, Cessna Citation S550, Dassault FA50 Falcon, Fokker F50, are exhibiting this issue with the FMC: After powering up the CDU, when I enter data into the scratch pad such as the origin or destination airports, and then click the appropriate line button, nothing happens. The FMC won't enter the data from the scratch pad. If I click the FLT PLN key again, then the entries appear. This does not occur on other Carenado aircraft I have such as the Beechcraft C90 GTX, or the Premier 1A 390 and a few others.

Anyone else have this issue? I have sent an inquiry to Carenado nit received no response as yet.

Any information is appreciated.

Carenado aircraft use the default XP11 FMC, so it isn't their fault.

Losing clickability is a seldomly occurring bug. Restarting the simulator fixes it.

Appreciate your response. Unfortunately, that does not explain why the problem occurs in some of the Carenado aircraft and not in others. Restarting the sim never seems to make any difference.

Thanks again for taking the time to answer.

For what it's worth, the Saab 340's FMC implementation works perfectly for me in the 11.50 beta.

Figures. If anything is broken, I'm always the one who ends up with it. 😑
