Transatlantic before Charles Lindburgh

Recommended Posts

I found out about this free demo yesterday.  It is worthy of a download, it sounds like the game will be too when it is released.  I have walked thru the Titanic, the graphics and fluidity of fps are amazing, and there is a guide with a British accent that keeps you company as you wander at your own pace thru the demo.

Perhaps Orbx can do the scenery like a TruEarth iceberg.

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.

I actually watched the "Live" sinking of the Titanic. It was a bit more interesting than watching paint dry, but between the flare rockets and occasional pistol shots, it manage to keep me awake.

They have been working on this for years, I check in on it from time to time. They seem to be hitting the old 80/20 rule, it takes 20% of their time to do 80% of that boat then 80% of their time to finish off the last 20%. Labour of Love

I visited their website, but try as I may -- I cannot figure out exactly what the object of the game will be.

Yep, I am puzzled too by it.  The demo gives away the best parts of the ship so why would people want to buy the game, and it seems like the game might still be some years away.  I've come to believe that they are trying to attract investors with the demo, like some devs do they get the customer to fund the project then give nothing back to the customer when the project is finished.  At least with the MSFS betas those of us who tested received the product for free,  In my case Microsoft came to my PC club in Napa in 1993 and gave me a copy of Visual Basic, which was used to create the Avsim file program "Landclass Assistant" way back when.  That is why I made it a free program, because Microsoft gave me Visual Basic for free, and now I have Visual Studio for free but no more ideas for programs, I am back to the "Hello World Stage" lol which I do in VB, Java, C# and C++ just for the heck of looking at code and saying to myself "I did that?" 😉
