8X SS A new Fan

Question: do you operate this on a 4K monitor? If you do then is the extra SSA overhead worth it when 2X MSAA already gives a great result with little to see in comparison?

Unless you are using 4k would have thought 2-4x MSAA is adequate.

Hi Ron,

Yes it is. It's really made a difference to my simming experience, particularly when it comes to clouds, they appear to have no impact on performance at all now.

I can absolutely not agree here. Using REX Skyforce Clouds and ActiveSky weather (three layers only), my performance is still ruined in v4.4 using 4xSSAA in very bad weather. And that's with a 1080Ti. So I really wonder how you can not have any impact on performance?

Wasn't SGSS (Sparse Grid Super Sampling) + transparency AA the holy grail? Long time no hear about that one.

I did a flight last night in the FSlabs320 at night from LAS-LAX (FSDreamteam and Orbx).  I decided to do 4 x SSAA from my normal MSAA. Though the framerate number was lower (I don't pay attention to framerates in terms of the actual number), the smoothness of the flight was the same to me and I didn't notice any difference whatsoever.  The weather wasn't a factor so that might make things worse in SSAA if it is poor.  With that being said, I am not sure what the benefits should have been.  I do not run 4k and my specs are below.  I am not complaining since I have a smoot sim in both scenarios but just curious.

No, 1440p. 4xSSAA is a killer. I use it most of the times, but if FPS drop to hard due to the cloudy conditions, I switch to 8xMSAA instead. To me, MSAA is greatly improved in v4.4, but that might be Placebo...
