Falcon 50 - AP Mode Indicators - FOV

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks,

Just curious - I found these Falcon images and I know this is a different AI (older ?) - than  the one modeled in our Falcon - but this one definitely has an AP mode indicator within the pilots field of view... The only way we can see the AP mode in the model is to look down at the center console - to me this seems to be pretty unique - is there any AP mode indicator that should have been included - that may have been overlooked - in the area where the pilot's attention is always directed - especially in IMC ???

Hi Scott, the ALT flag is noted in the Pilot Manual but doesn't appear to work on the  Attitude  Indicator. The AP flag works on the Annunciator Panel.

The ADI-85A modeled in the sim does not have integral autopilot mode annunciators.

At the time the 50 was certified, I don't think there was a regulatory requirement to have autopilot mode annunciators in the pilot's field of view - though some operators may have chosen to have a remote mode annunciator panel installed.

There is a typo in the FSW manual. It is not an ALT flag on the ADI, but an ATT (ATTitude) warning flag used to indicate when there is a problem with the displayed attitude (roll and/or pitch).

The lack of an AP mode indicator on the panel is why Mark created the AP popup you get by clicking on the face of the HSI.  I suppose in the real a/c the copilot (or PNF) would monitor such things. It is never easy trying to operate an a/c designed for a cockpit crew of two as a single pilot!

The above is incorrect -- I was looking at the wrong flag. The ATT flag is on the left side of the ADI. The ALT flag on the right side of the ADI comes out if the Radio Altimeter ALTitude data is invalid for some reason.

BTW that is a Falcon 10 in the photos. Not as well-known as the Falcon 20 or 50, but Dassault built over 200 of them. Still quite a few around.

And I would love to have one well modeled. I use so far the AI version of Andrew Jarvis (privetely) converted to FSX and using the Falcon 20 (freeware) cockpit !!

It's a very special beast

a real little fighter, very pleasant to fly, with short take-off and landing, low consuption and excellent flight quality

according to Icare, a french pilot review.

Yes, I’ve always thought the 10 is one of the most beautiful aircraft Dassault has ever produced. It was very comparable to the Lear 35 in terms of passenger capacity and performance, but not quite as much range.

Some panels had the AP mode indicators on the main panel but there was not 1 image we could find that could be read. And the panel layout we did decide to model did not have one.

==========================================

I think a Falcon 10 would be better to model than the F900 for FPS. And that we can offer many types of GPS units.
