Bright daylight scenery textures

Recommended Posts

Hi Wanthuyr,

What is your "diffuse sunlight" value under "Terrain lighting"? I've discovered that LM has made some changes to how lighting values are calculated. Up to version 4.3, this tweak had little or no effect at midday, which was nice, because you could adjust post-dawn/pre-sunset lighting (which is too dim by default) without overexposing textures during daytime. Now, the tweak applies uniformly throughout the day, so the value has to be kept close to 1.0.

Indeed it's a little bit to the high part, since I've always liked a contrasted environment. I will try to diminish it, but it will probably solve it really.

That's been my approach, too... Before 4.4, I set this parameter to 2.75 to get more realistic light levels and contrast for early mornings and late afternoons, but now it's no longer possible. I've tried experimenting with expressions using cb_mDayNightInterpolant and cb_mSun.mDiffuse, but the former seems to have no effect and the latter affects the lighting by a tiny bit only... I'll try to test this some more, I'll let you know if I make any progress...

I kept reducing and eventually returned to the 1.0 value, but it's definitely not as good looking as before, something must have been deeply changed and now I just can't figure how to get similar as I had previously. I even didn't analyse dawns and dusks (let alone nights) because it will probably another something to figure out.
