CPU 4.0GHz vs 4.5GHz vs 5.0GHz Gaming

Recommended Posts

Not sure this applies 1 to 1 with sims, which tend to be weird, FPS-Wise, but I thought it was interesting, nonetheless.

Nice vid, the outcome makes sense since it's only 1080p.
As for most sims in general it would be the same since most of them rely heavy on cpu power and especially for flightsim try to overclock as high as possible to get that 3 fps gain.

6-7% more fps going from 4.5 Ghz to 5.0 Ghz.

So with a heavy scenery 30 would mean 32-33.

I am running my 7940x with 8 cores for P3Dv4 at 4.8 Ghz. Trying to reach for 5.0 Ghz would mean a much higher vcore setting etc with a gain of perhaps 1.2-1.4 fps...

Yep! Even I have to admit that the 5 gigahertz I'm currently running is probably mostly for e-peen. But considering that I can do that at reasonable temperatures after delidding the processor, why not?

Exactly, a good OC but not a too hot cpu is fine.

Better 5.0 for 5 years than 5.4 for 2 ...
