Can you recommend a picture hoster for AvSim?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I had not much luck with the picture hosters I tried.

I'm looking for a simple hoster with no advertisement and marketing staff. If you click on the picture you should get a bigger picture and with another click you should get fullscreen picture (1920 x 1180).

I've looked in a lot of threads in this AvSim screenshot forum  and "investigated" for a good hoster. I tried the ones I liked, but I get other results than the other users. I don't have much experience in this theme.
Sorry for my bad Englisch, it's not my mother tongue.

Hi Folks,

I just switched to Flickr - seems to do what you want - so far - so good... They have a couple different link formats - I just strip the JPG link out and paste it...

Hello,
thanks very much for your replies!  🙂

@ soaring_penguin: I just have tried Imgur.
But when you click on the picture to get a bigger size, you will get a picture like this sometimes:
EujDqLB.jpg
And when you click again to get fullsize/fullscreen, you will get a picture with a white frame:
6MZmBuG.jpg
And this can't be full size if the picture is 1920 x 1080 and your/my monitor is 1920 x 1080 as well.
I tried to find some settings to change this, but I did not succeed.
I also want to make a gallery with the uploaded pictures, but I wonder if/how this is possible with Imgur.
Is it necessary to post the pictures in the Imgur Community to make a gallery?

@Scott and jt8d9a:
I've seen that it took some time until the picture is to be seen on Flickr.
And if you click again on the picture to get full size you will get something like double size. This means that the picture will not be sharp any more.
Is it possible to create a gallery with Flickr? Then I would accept the two points above and make a try.

@all: I was very happy with smugmug.com. With one click you can choose a profile for your gallery and smugmug created this gallery automatically. Just bring the pictures in different albums for each theme and you will get a perfect gallery.
But although I clicked the settings that I don't want to sell my pictures they wanted to sell them for 0,19 $/€ each. So funny. And blamable for me.  And you have to pay for it each month.
Maybe any other recommendations?
Thanks again very much
Peter

I also use Imgur, was recommended here, although for some reason it does not upload well with Firefox, my default browser, so I use Chrome to upload my pics and Firefox to post them here.  I used to use Flickr and another site but stopped using both because of popups.

Has anybody tried Google-Drive (drive.google.com)? There you have 15 GB for free.

@jt8d9a Nils, all my pictures have a size under 500 kB. So 15 GB would mean 30,000 pictures. Should be enough!?! :-)

Hi Peter,

Actually - my image is not "double size" - my native resolution on my 32" monitor is 2560x1440 - so it's showing actual size (maybe I should make them smaller ?) - - - it may show loss because I used JPG for smaller file size as opposed to a lossless format such as PNG...

Thanks for the tip on the (1000) image limit - I don't upload that often so it will take quite a while to hit that... I have like (5) now...

Regards,
Scott

You can "technically" use your steam picture library like the one here.

I use Imageshack. I also like that they don't compress your pics.
