FS2004 miss some functions

Recommended Posts

I have FS2004 running on Windows10 without problems from one year ago, downloading many aircraft and scenery apps.

From one month ago, it starts correctly, I start a new fly with any aircraft and scenery I select.

But after that if I try to change any aircraft, scenery, look the map or gps.... then the program freezes.

Some help, please ??

I use fs9 with win10 and zero probs

Shrewdness: intall ALL (when possible) with administrator rights and run FS like administrator

Never run any program from the "Administrator" account. You will give all your FS add-ons unobstructed access to your system files.

Proper "Microsoft-compatible" software doesn't even need Administrative permissions for installation, in theory that is. Examples: MSFS itself, Opera Mail, Python 3, etc. Many software vendors do not follow this specification, but I only let reputable vendors access my Admin account.

By no means should you "edit" security permissions ("access control descriptors") either, unless you have read a book or two on Windows administration.

If something requires Admin rights for install, and you do not trust the vendor, take measures to circumvent the install process. If something requies Admin rights to run, run away from it as fast as you can.

My 2 cents.

Jorge, make sure you've installed FS9 anywhere but at C:\Program files, C:\Program files (x86) or (judging from your username) C:\Archivos de programa (x86). Win10 security settings are overzealous. With that, you'll need only to run installers as admin. For running FS9 itself, you won't need those permissions.

Now, the important question what did you install "one month ago"? Or do you have any Windows Update from that date?

My 6 versions of FS2004 run perfectly, installed (copy, pasted & renamed to whatever version I have) into C:\ The fs9.exe is set to run in XP compatibility mode & as Admin.

Please don't shout at me, but I have always turned my UAC settings right down. (I have enough nagging at home, I don't need MS to nag as well!)

I'm running Windows 10 Home, with all updates.

Hi.

Eleven months without a problem, then consistent failure to run correctly after mid-November, suggests a Windows update, a driver update, new hardware or a new addon. Certainly something must have changed in November.

Can you remember what it was?
