Where is everyone flying their 747-8’s?

Recommended Posts

I really enjoy the 747-8, but I’ve found myself flying other aircraft as I often struggle with finding good destinations suitable for her long legs.  I typically fly passenger flights with the United livery (UVA Member).  I’m wondering if it’s cause I lack a good variety of scenery for overseas destinations?  EGLL, PHNL, and OMDB are my only really good overseas sceneries.

So, any suggestions? Where is everyone flying? Good sceneries to purchase? Help me spend more time in the -8!

for cargo in Europe you see them at quite a lot of airports such as Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Luxembourg and many more.

I’ve flown cargo occasionally using the Atlas livery (USAF 747 operators do their sim training with Atlas) but prefer passenger flights.  I’ve typically been simming the -8 as a replacement for the now retired UAL 400’s.

Currently flying out of KSFO (Flightbeam) to PANC for UPS. Tried EDDF to KORD but ended on touchdown with an OOM😡! Never had a problem with the -400. Hopefully the upcoming update will free up some VAS, otherwise I might have to look into P3D. All of the Flightbeam airports I have work very well with my rig (I7-4790K, GTX970, 16gb) on FSX boxed.

I find myself usually flying the 400. I only do atlas/polar stuff but the -8 routes are rather routine and dull. 😅

UPS has a couple of -8 circuits that I've flown.  KSDF OMDB ZGSZ PANC KSDF  is a nice round the world trip.  I also like their KSDF PHNL VHHH PANC KSDF circuit.

I pretty much have stuck to trash haulers with my -8 flights.  As Jeffery mentioned, there are some Atlas flights you can add to the mix such as KHSV SCEL, or KHSV EDFH.

HSV-QRO-MEX-GDL-HSV  is a fun one with some interesting approaches. More fun with the sim than doing it all night in the real world. 😅

My last one was FACT - ZULS. A proper flight for the 748, being around 15h.

One of the trips I have flown and duplicated in P3D is KSPS-ETAR-OAIX-PGUA-PHIK-KSUU.

I also enjoy these cargo routes Dan has been doing, plus I add a pax routing now and then with Lufthansa DLH418/419 between KIAD and EDDF.  All very nice flights in the -8.

If there where good addon airports for those destinations it would be even nicer 😄 The AS EDDF version is beautiful though.
