Remote EFB - Available Now

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

Robert and Michael suggested I post this here, since we believe you guys will be interested in it!

In the last couple of months, I've been working closely with our friends at PMDG to bring you a very cool new feature - a remote EFB for your iPad / tablet.

Those of you already using the Remote CDU functionality have asked for it and I'm happy to say, with the upcoming update from PMDG, the EFB will be supported as well 🙂

It will be available as a new license option.

I mentioned previews? Well here we go:

Never heard of Remote CDU?

Have a look here:

or here on AVSIM:

can we get one for the NGX?

I hate not being able to calculate proper PERF for takeoff and landings

Hi Ron,

maybe the NG3 will feature an EFB? (Just pure speculation on my part, but I can imagine PMDG adding this functionality to new products / major upgrades).

But rest assured - whenever there is an EFB that supports data access, I'll try and add support on my end.

In fact, the EFB license on my end will cover multiple aircraft as this functionality becomes more popular within our community.

Ah sorry if I was misleading in my post - no, I'm an addon developer and Robert from PMDG allowed me to post this on their forum.

I own the PMDG 747 QOTS, but not yet the -800 addon. Once Mark's EFB is available for the "8" I will be buying the "8" and the Remote EFB.

To any that are not owners of, or not familiar with Marks products, I can tell you they're top notch. I have CDU licenses for every PMDG aircraft I own, including the Remote Overhead for the NGX; Aerosoft CRJ (includes DAVE); Leonardo MaddogX. All of the products are easy to configure, and for me, they work 100% correctly, 100% of the times I use them - which is EVERY flight I make in any of the above aircraft!

I am in no way affiliated with Mark, other than as an owner of his products.

Kind Regards,

Question, If I want to view a chart in your new EFB, is that displayed in the resolution of my PC screen, or in the resolution of my Ipad? When I view PDFs in the EFB, they are less sharp than when I look at them on my Ipad, which makes sense.
I look forward to your app

I have used remote cdus for years and love them. I believe mine are a different company though, VA Interface. Could you outline the differences between the products and maybe persuade me to buy your versions in future? I only have cdus for them, overhead and efb would be interesting from you as i got myself a 10 inch tab for Xmas! Can I run their cdus and your panels at the same time? You just run a small server /client setup right?

The overhead is an almost certain purchase.. You have web or play link so I can make sure I have the right app?

Thanks.

Hi,

I'd like to treat resolution and size independently. The resolution is fixed and it's how the data is provided to me. The actual size of the EFB will depend on your mobile device and will take advantage of whatever screen estate you have (but maintain aspect ratio).

Yes, PDFs will not look as sharp as when viewed natively. But to be honest, I don't believe the EFB's main purpose is to view documents - you can always copy the manuals to your tablet and view them in the appropriate apps.

Hi Russell,

yes, there are different solutions out there and I don't feel too comfortable going into details here why I believe one addon might be better than another one.

Feel free to ask this question on the dedicated support forum and I'll leave it to the community to respond to you.

You are always welcome to try the free demo version for both the CDUs and the Remote Overhead - you just won't be able to make any inputs:

I see two serious issues with this:

1. Convincing the Minister of Finance (wife) that I need a third iPad.

2. Finding a place to put it amongst all my other sim gadgets.

First world problems. I’ll just have to figure it out I suppose....
