Reality XP GTN 750 "Black Screen" (resolved)

TL;DR How do I point the plugin to the updated trainer [trainer not found]

Hello, I upgraded the trainer to version 6.62 this morning and now...

Nevermind - I found the thread below an see that the 6.62 Garmin update is too new to work with your pulgin. It was very helpful to the link for the 6.50.1 version. I'm back up and running again.

RXP - I still have a problem (see post in GTN Trainer 6.50.1 download links) - Something changed, now when I use the GTN on any plane that has the G1000, the autopilot quits following the flight plan at the first turn. Side-by-side comparing the RealityXP.GTN.ini files, I see no differences that can cause that. I hope we can solve this as I hate flight planning with the G1000. Thanks a lot, Jon

[Edit] I see this was covered https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/553206-planes-with-g1000-wont-follow-gtn750-flight-plan-solved/
I'll try that.

[Edit - Edit] The steps in the thread above solved (or at least provided a work-around) and now my G1000 planes follow the FP that is active in the WONDERFUL GTN 750

Probably a simple problem. I have purchased both the GTN 750 and GTN 650 - and the both work in all my planes except the Carenado_PA46_Malibu_Mirage.

The GTN 1 will work as a 750 or a 650
The GTN 2 will work as a 750 only not a 650 (I prefer to stack them as such)

I've played with the Mirage ini file to no avail.

Solved by updating the gtn and updating the trainer at the same time.

So i have read many different subjects about the black screen. My trainer works, but in game all i get is the Garmin with a black screen. i have attempted to run the instructions for the AMD setup to force it to use the correct driver. Any more luck fixing this before i return it?

My GTN suddenly stopped working; I am running it on X-plane 11.51 and multiple aircraft both default and Corenado; the Plugin menu works but the unit will not turn on, even with the avionics on; I could never get it to install into the panel but have always been able to use it as a pop out I recently updated the Garmin Trainer and the latest update, which I believe is 3.0. I confess that I could not follow the instructions that I have read in multiple places

@Gene Comroe can you please post the content of the RXP log files (see RXP GTN user's manual for file/path)?

This may help...

1] Copy both log files from Documents to desktop.  (Page 23 of 25 GTN manual)

2] Rename the blah.log to blah.txt

3] The .txt format will attach

Have a good day

I had kind of a bad feeling when the update to the Garmin Trainers 3.0 came up and I willy-nilly clicked to install. I KNEW it was going to come back to haunt me.

As TangoWhiskey69 states above... Reinstalling RealityXP should take care of it. It did for me.

More specifically, I had to uninstall then reinstall.

And yes, I too got the popup about malware. But it was entirely clear that it was something that could be whitelisted. Should the developer get that little hiccup fixed? Perhaps. But he has made it clear that it might be an issue.

Whew!! Back to practicing approaches so I can get to my Instrument checkride.

Yesterday it worked perfectly. It did not turn on this morning. I found a RealityXP quarantined .dll in Windows Defender. Removed from quarantine, put the exclusion on the ProgramData/Reality XP folder and everything is back to workImmagine.png

This might explain why reinstalling is fixing it.  It puts the file back until the next scan.  The exclusion should keep it from happening again.

I guess being an 8000 hr ATP with multiple type ratings does not qualify you to play video games. I do not understand how to do what is being discussed. Can anyone make it simple enough for me (a dunce) to follow?

Hello Gene...

It appears that you have 2 problems. The first is the "flagged file" from the GTN update and the second problem will be integration of the instrument into your panel. Deal with problem #1. Make your own topic about aircraft integration later once we have the GTN750 up and running.

I suggest that you now make a new topic  in this section. Call the topic "Blank screen after GTN update". Presently, you are piggy backed onto another thread and the members here have intelligently found the solution to the issues but it is a lot on your plate all at once.

Please follow these instructions.

1] Make the new topic in this section. Call the topic "Blank screen after latest GTN update".

2] Copy your original post into this new topic...
   https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/547734-reality-xp-gtn-750-black-screen-resolved/page/3/?tab=comments#comment-4465939

3] Open your virus program and we are going to do 2 things...    Very important.

a] Put an "exclusion", from virus program scanning, for this folder     C:\ProgramData/Reality XP     Will explain later.

   b) Check in the quarantine section for a listing of   C:\ProgramData/Reality XP\rxpGtnSim32.dll
If the dll is there, remove it from quarantine. This will place it back into the proper folder.
If the dll was there, and you removed it from quarantine...sometimes that is enough to allow it to work. If not, we will be removing and re installing the GTN and the trainer.
Fire up X-Plane 11 and choose an aircraft, power it up and see if at least the popup/popout GTN works.

4] If you followed all of the upper 3 steps and still no luck...we will need to do this...  uninstall/reinstall of GTN and trainer

State in the new topic when you have completed the first 3 steps.

Take your time...a search engine  is also handy for virus program instructions if you have none on hand.
