Need some direction for Falcon 50 Navigation

I'm having trouble making the autopilot follow a navigation path.

I've entered a flight plan in the GTN 750 (and also tried a Direct to). I've not been able to have the autopilot follow the path or track to a selected navaid. I push the Nav button and GPS is shown as a sub-indication. But, nothing happens. It does follow the heading bug if a select Heading. Altitude and VS work as well. I must be missing something here...

Anyone have a tip to impart?

Also, while I'm at it. How do you know if a switch is on/off? Some switches have tooltip text, but some don't.

Here is something you can check: The GTN750 no longer defaults to autocourse since the HSI is analog. So you have to set the HSI course indicator (pointer) manually with the course knob. However, you can change the GTN750 to autocourse via its configuration program, or more directly by editing the GTN750 ini file.

Also, make sure your GTN is in GPS mode. If the text at the bottom of your map screen says VLOC (in green), press the CDI icon to change it to GPS (in magenta).

Thanks all. I'll give these a look.

The Nav flag on the HSI. Will that ever hide itself while using the GTN? (too many questions?)

Just so I understand, unless I set the GTN's to CRS=1, the autopilot will not follow the flight plan course?

Sorry to be so dense. I guess the real world Falcons were not GPS equipped? 

A better question would be: how did the developers envision this working?

There are (or were) a few RW Falcon 50s with GPS units instead of FMCs.

In the sim, if you do not set the GTN CRS=1 for auto-course, then the pilot must reset the HSI course each time a change of course is called for by the flight plan. When a course change is needed the GTN750 will indicate the new course in the lower right hand corner of the GTN panel (you typically get a few seconds of warning).  At that time you must manually set the HSI course indicator to the new course with the HSI course knob which is on the HCP (Heading Course Panel) on the center console between the pilot and copilot, or on a 2D popup that you can get by clicking with the mouse on the face of the HSI. In this manner the GPS will fly the flight plan.  This is how the GPS will work in any a/c with an analog HSI that does not include a servo of some kind to drive the course indicator.

Whether or not to set the GTN CRS=1 is up to the user. Don't forget the Falcon 50 is a two pilot a/c in the RW, so if it is being flown by a single pilot, it seems to me a little auto-course  'help' is justifiable. However, as they say, "to each his own".
