60 FPS lock - internal or external ?

Recommended Posts

Old and tired topic, but when I use P3Dv4.3 settings to:

Unlimited + Vert Sync ON + TB ON

.... the fps still goes up and down as high as mid seventies ?!! It seems incapable of maintaining a max of 60 for strange reason.

So, would it better to use nVidia inspector to set 60 fps and vert sync ON ?

I know this is the best solution for limiting to 30, but what about 60 ?

And yes, I do keep 60 fps and do not wish to use 30.

Thnx

Perhaps I’m not understanding this correctly but you appear to be complaining of too high frame rates. Just forget the numbers and enjoy the sim.

Hi Gabe-

Try this. Uncheck Vsync/TB, leave unlimited on.

Download Rivatuner here. Set framerate limit to 60fps.

See how that works for you.

Cheers,

Mark

If your fps are going up and down, your system is not capable of maintaining 60fps. You can lock it at 60 all you want internally or externally - if your system cannot do it- that's it.

If it looks good, turn off the fps counter and enjoy the flight ut I'd venture a guess that if your fps are going up and down you are also getting stutters.

The issue is not maintaining 60. It is that, even if Vert Sync is ON, my frames can exceed 60. Sometimes as high as 80.

Seems as though P3D vert sync is not really working as it should.

So Rivatuner better than nVidia inspector ?

Thnx.... I guess I will try it.

P3D vert sync seems busted to me.

I thought RivaTuner was for AMD cards only. I could be wrong.

What is your monitor refresh rate?

For me, yes. The Inspector FPS limiter worked sometimes, sometimes not.

Rivatuner works differently and at a lower resource using level. Google it for a further explanation.
