nVidia Surround or TH2GO ?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

i am running P3Dv4.4 on a i7 8700k and a GTX 1080 TI on 3 TV Screens connected via DisplayPort to HDMI via nVidia Surround.

Now, when i stretch P3Dv4 over all 3 TV i have at Night very low fps. When i let P3D run only on 1 Screen i have fps about 50.

The Question is if maybe anyone know if i will get better fps when i use the TH2GO ?
It would be nice to know bevore i install the driver for the TH2GO .

Maybe anyone can answer?

Matthias

You're losing FPS because you're rendering the simulator at the resolution of 3 screens rather than 1. Using Nvidia surround or the TH2Go isn't going to change that.

Hello,

what means that

or the TH2Go isn't going to change that.

the TH2GO will give better fps or not?

That is the Question.

That is the Question.

There is no logical reason why a TH2Go would give better performance than a three-screen setup with nvidia Surround. TH2Go is way old technology now and a native solution with a decent video card will doubtless work better. What do you mean by 'very low' fps? 20 fps wouldn't be unusual in complex scenery and weather with a three-screen display. I don't have a 1080ti, so perhaps you can be more optimistic. (And I am assuming your TVs are running at 1080p or lower, obviously.)

I have i7 w/ GTX 980, 3 x 24" monitors and no problem with FPS using Nvidia Surround. However, this is without all settings maxed.

It is only the amount of views + the amount of pixels

TH2Go , NVSurround ; they will have the same performance.

Hello,

is there a known differnece between Surround and stretching the FS and using Viewgroups ?
I have not tested Viewgroups and have no expierences with that, but if it would be better, i will set up Viewgroups.

If you mean a difference in performance, then yes, using a viewgroup will have a performance penalty. That said, it allows things you can't do with Surround. Notably, you can reduce the distortion at the peripheries and you can use different sizes, resolutions or orientations of the monitors. View groups are very poorly-documented, so look forward to a lot of head-scratching.

In manage Camera’s you can make a custom camera + Distortion Fix ( effects )
