Falcon FA50 EX is out

Recommended Posts

The Falcon 100 is an upgrade of the Falcon 10. It was the first business jet fitted with EFIS, it has one more window than the falcon 10 and a luggage hold accessible from the outside. Awesome aircraft! Just look it up! (It was also the very first jet I flew hence I am very attached to it...)

Are there any reflection profiles availible yet for Tomatoshade? Also, how does the LITE version differ from the regular one?

I have not seen any LITE version. Doing a quick flight test now. AP is doing a good job so far and handling qualities are pretty good. I am quite satisfied but I have not yet explored SOPs and FMS functionalities except the direct To. But my first impression it is way better than the hawker and S550, the other carenado jets I have. I absolutely LOVE the iconic Dassault pitch trim sound!

Among the features listed on its product page is: 'Volumetric side view prop effect.' This is a novel concept for a jet-powered aeroplane. Think I'll stick with my Fly Sim Ware Falcon. 🙂

Vitally important if the feature is incorporated before I would purchase it. As far as the GTN. if it has a Proline I would doubt very much it would incorporate a garmin. Of course Bert can shoehorn one in but it kinda defeats the realism for me.

We have Colins displays and a Garmin 750 in the Citation CJ I fly in the real world.

Interesting.  I'm usually the airplane guru but I never noticed any difference of models.  I'm ATC and we just show it as an FA10.

Like a pro line 4?  The newer Collins glass is all integrated. I doubt you'd see a GTN unit added to any newer PL21 or Fusion setup.  What do you guys have in CJ?

The Carenado 50EX is modelled after the actual Collins Proline 4 -> Pro Line 21 STC . Main advantage  is FAN1/A, ADS-B and SBAS but also Synthetic Vision, Graphic Weather, Jepp charts, camera but these are not modelled on the carenado version.

ETTECH, a leader in developing affordable aftermarket aircraft solutions, announced today approval for an FAA Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) covering Garmin touchscreen GTN 650/750 GPS/NAV/COM installations on Cessna CJ models 525/525A/525B equipped with Rockwell Collins ProLine 21 https://www.aviationpros.com/press_release/12315103/jettechs-garmin-gtn-install-receives-stc-approval-for-cjs-equipped-with-proline-21-fgc-3000-digital-fcs. Would you do it in a Falcon no,but you can mix the systems and having a GTN in there would be way better than the Carenado FMS

And I've already done a lot of flying on Falcon 50 from another FlySimware, and it was very good. I need to know how the Proline21 is made now in Carenado. If it is good, then there is a chance of flying on this bird.

So far I have identified the following issues that hopefully Carenado will correct. I have spent only a little hour flying it mostly handling.

Systems display: Hydraulic Pressure is stuck at 3000 PSI (even in Cold and Dark) and HYD QTY is RED (low level) It seems like this is a picture and note a gauge. But the other info on that display are working fine.

FMS: the way the FMS works is very frustrating. I am unable to do DIRECT TO except to AIRPORTS. WHen I load a procedure I cannot select a DIR TO to any of the waypoint in this procedure, it just gives me DIR TO destination Airport. I admit I have not had time to play much with the FMS but I beleived I knew how a DIR TO function is supposed to operate...

WINGFLEX not working even under high G load.

Graphically/texture wise, It's amazing, it feels like the real one!

If other users have identified more issues, we can maybe compile them all here in the hope that Carenado will read this forum and release an update in a near future.

Carenado FMS has never worked correctly.

About the GTN...for the sim - I totally agree it would be better over their PL21.  Say for the upcoming milviz B350i you won't need it because theirs will actually work correctly

I have been flying the Flysimware Falcon 50 for several weeks, and it is an excellent emulation of an older analog instrument DA50.

I’m reluctant to try the Carenado 50 after my experience with their Hawker 850 a couple of years ago. That was supposed to be a “Proline 21” aircraft too, but their emulation of the systems and FMS was horrible. They simply made a “pseudo FMS” out of the default FSX/P3D GPS, and it never worked remotely close to the actual Proline 21. Maybe they have made improvements, but I have my doubts.

I do suspect the FDE will be well done, so the flying characteristics will be probably be quite accurate.

I’m not “anti-Carenado”. I own and enjoy several of their GA piston aircraft. The ones in X-Plane in particular are very nice - but that is partly because they outsource the XP systems development to a 3rd party company.

But it seems that whenever they try to tackle a jet aircraft with complex systems, the result falls well short of the mark.

Anyone try the VR capabilities yet? I've read this is the first Carenado AC with VR click spots for those who don't get sick wearing such a rig.
