I love seeing developers bite that hand that feeds them with comments like this:"FSX will be a major bottleneck but we should be able to hack around it.The first shot is FS9 running about 180 fpsThe second FSX running at 14-17fps"No offense George, but it sounds like you'd be quite happy if MS never released another version of FS again.

Why would you post a comment to George here instead of his forum?

>Why would you post a comment to George here instead of his>forum?>>Perhaps he has no interest to register on FlyTampa's forum? :)For the record, I agree with Paul.

The comment may be irresponsible but the simple fact is that a major scenery designer (A really good one) is having trouble porting his work to FSX and the frustration just came out. I have and love all of Fly Tampas offerings and would be sad if they couldn't be updated for FSX. Lets hope the real FSX is easier for scenery designers to "hack" or we will not have all the fantastic airport sceneries like we have in FS9. I read somewhere that someone installed Christian Delbonds version into the demo and had horrible performance. I hope performance is not going to be so bad in the final version. Judging from Juliana, I don't think the Microsoft default airports will be anywhere near Fly Tampa in quality. Keep in mind Fly Tampas works are GMax and well designed as far as polygons for very good performance without sacrificing detail. If these have performance problems imagine how bad it may be with add on scenery from less talented designers. I know this is just the demo and the final product will be improved but where is all the promised backward compatibility. People have had all kinds of problems installing FS9 planes and sceneries. Has anyone got FS9 gauges to work in the demo yet?Regards, Carlos

>Has anyone>got FS9 gauges to work in the demo yet?Of course, as has been reported in other threads. The only gauges that're unsupported are FS98 gauges...

In light of the second shot, prooves that FlyTampa has succeeded in "chacking" the code to come up with some very amazing scenery addons for FSX. I am truly looking forward to what they will be able to offer in days and months ahead... Good job!dito

I read>somewhere that someone installed Christian Delbonds version>into the demo and had horrible performance.Doesn't surprise me as that scenery was hard on the frames in FS...and I tend to agree with Paul and Jeff.I find it very odd that he says 180 in FS9 and 14 in FSX, I fly there all the time and I get comparable performance between the 2 sims.I do have a lot of respect for George and think the new scenery does look good though.Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/ambanner.jpg

I believe there's a topless chick there in the first shot............. under the bench. (waheyyyyy! ):D

I'm assuming Fly Tampa would have the same beta copy as the rest of us beta testers, which is Beta 3 and not the release version. There could be a difference in framerates between beta 3 and the release version of FSX.

Naahh, that's a dude, and he's wearing speedos. You know, speedos are all the rage down there.RhettAMD 3700+, eVGA 7800GT 256, ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, etc. etc.

180FPS Where I see no screen shot of the FPS counter.

Regarding framerate hit with FSX/FS9 I tried a flight in the FSX demo and recreated it in fs9.FS9 was around 90fpsFSX demo got about 50 /60FPS, this was with autogen showing more buildings than FS9 and more importantly flying at 1000feet the view from the aircraft in FSX was stunning, so much so I thought I was seeing some special photo scenery made for the demo area, when in fact I was looking at FSX generic textures.IMO the changes from FS9 are night and dayJohn
