FSX-SE Atlas Air 767 as PAX Transporter

I have always found the 767 to be an interesting aircraft. This aircraft is still being produced (1981-Present). In 2018, as of Nov. 30, there were 1243 orders and 1122 deliveries. The last (SIM) flight I did with a 767, was with the LVLD 767 several months ago (for which I'd provided a post earlier). I'm now testing, for the 1st time on FSX-SE, the Captain Sim 767-300 here.

767 was a unique step forward for Boeing. It was Boeing's first wide-body twinjet and its first airliner with a two-crew glass cockpit. The 767 became the first twin-engined airliner to be used on extended overseas flights in 1985. In the mid-1980s, the 767 spearheaded the growth of twinjet flights across the northern Atlantic under extended-range twin-engine operational performance standards, and is credited with the birth of (ETOPS) regulations. In 1980, when Boeing first approached FAA, here is a remark that's cited from one of the FAA Administrators, Lynn Helms, "It'll be a cold day in hell before I let twins fly long haul, overwater routes." Helms even felt that the 60-minute rule was already too generous and dangerous! And, two years ago, I took a 17 hour oceanic flight in a 777 (my only non-stop long-duration flight).

The 767 is the first twinjet wide-body type to reach 1,000 aircraft delivered, and, the 767 was also the natural predecessor for subsequent evolution towards 777/787. In fact, the 767-MR/LR (Medium Range / Long Range) was initially proposed as a tri-jet to get around the ETOPS restrictions, but was later renamed the 777 with the tri-jet configuration dropped.

For livery, I've chosen here, Atlas Air, which is primarily a Cargo Operator, but not all-Cargo as is the norm. It also provides passenger charter airline service (e.g. it has three 767-300s dedicated for passenger use - one of which is displayed in this post). In 2011, Atlas Air was the first North American customer to take delivery of the Boeing 747-8 Freighter (747-8F) - Cargolux was the launch customer for 747-8F in EU in the same year. Atlas Air has interesting partnerships with multiple other major companies. Its Polar Air Cargo subsidiary operates aircraft for DHL Express (with Polar logo on the fuselage and DHL marking on the tail). Amazon freight services (branded Amazon Air) partially consists of Atlas Air's twenty 767s.

Below are a few snapshots of a 767 flight in Orbx(AU), one of my least used Orbx Add-On regions, from Sydney to Brisbane - tracking north towards the (gold) coastline. I have done a cold & dark start-up here for this Captain Sim 767 (no apparent issues encountered except the minor annoyance that "Shift+Z" does not seem to get rid of the info message at the top of my screen here; will look into it later). It was fun learning about the 767 and flying it in the SIM after a long break. Thanks for viewing these pictures of this trendsetter of an aircraft. [Orbx/CS/REX]

Atlas is my favorite livery for the Queen.They seem to fly the most adventurous routes.

Great shots!   Love the 767...flew the rivets off the LDS 767 back in the day.  Hoping for a quality 767 for P3D one of these days.

Thanks Vic.....2019 is going to be interesting for P3d painters with the addition of PBR.  I think my AA MD turned out pretty good...but always trying to make it better. 🙂
