Rain effect disappearing: realistic or not?

Recommended Posts

note that also Robert is confirming  what videos show,  that rain is visible: " you are going to see only a slight blurring effect from the motion of water impacting the windscreen"

so really not need to discuss it any longer,  in this you are right

I think PMDG will not confirm that there is a problem in the forums, but rather fix it eventually.

I did not follow all the discussions regarding the 747 wing dropping almost into the ground, but, even though the problem was clear, the general statements by PMDG were that the issue was not clear and that "more data would be required". Eventually, that got fixed in one of the recent patches...

The same will happen with the rain effects, I presume.

Note the above - surely that should end the discussion. I have no idea why the mods let discussions like this carry on.. Time to lock.

I tend to be of the viewpoint that conflicting viewpoints should be able to be voiced. I only ask that they be backed with evidence. People are showing videos, which is evidence supporting their view.

People always give me a hard time about asking for facts, data, and evidence. I think it would be backwards to lock a thread when people are providing what I usually ask of them when voicing their opinions.

We're usually pretty open about things that are incorrect when they're proven to be.

People wildly misinterpret my stance of "prove it using data, please" as "we are not wrong - ever."

Not sure what you're referring to here. The wing flex model adjustments? RSR actually stated in one of the threads that he was re-doing the calculations (and we also added in some hard limits to it, to help avoid weird effects coming up if people have their turbulence set unrealistically high).

I am referring to the wing-tip dropping when the plane is still on the ground, even when there was not much fuel loaded. One of the many topics where this issue has been discussed:

Again, I did not follow this kerfuffle closely, but I definitely noticed the problem and in most topics the issue was not really recognized by PMDG.

Nevertheless, I believe something was changed, because I do not see this problem anymore, so cheers for that! As long as the issues are fixed, I don`t mind the PR strategy. 🙂

RSR definitely answered in one of the threads.

I wouldn't really call it "not really recognized" as I was actively involved in just about every one of the threads asking for data. Asking for data isn't a lack of recognition. It's a direct recognition of an assertion lacking a factual standpoint. In other words, I was trying to get people to move from tossing out subjective opinions, and into a facts-based discussion. That's a very important distinction.

Just because we don't immediately say "you're right, we're wrong," doesn't mean we don't recognize something that might need to be explored.
