Does anybody from you experts have any idea where I should look at?

I am suffering from sudden CTDs as well, this just started after my christmas holiday, before the system was running like a charm.

You did not have a CTD but an AppHang.  It means that one of your add-ons is not working properly and stopped P3DV4.3 from working properly.  You did not indicate where the error is occurring.  At startup?  While loading a scenario?  During takeoff?  At landing?  What was loaded (if anything)?  Did you follow the instructions on Page 10, AVSIM CTD Guide, and rename your P3D.cfg to P3D.off, rename your dll.xml (there are two of them - one in the same folder as your p3d.cfg and one in the same folder as your scenery.cfg) to dll.off?  If you have add-on scenery, did you go to Documents/My Prepar3D V4 Addons and move all of the contents to a temporary directory (this will make sure only your default scenery loads)?  Once you do all of that, did you restart P3D and run the scenario to see if this fixed the problem(s)?  There are so many possibilities for an AppHangB1 error and it is impossible to tell you exactly what caused it.

You also have P3DV4.3 an old version of P3D.  It was recently updated to version 4.4 (updates are free and it will not mess up any add-ons installed and you just uninstall the P3D Client from your Add/Remove programs and then install the new P3D Client.  That's it!  Later, after all is running okay, you can do the same thing for the other components like content and scenery.  Again, it will not mess up any add-ons unless you installed something like FTX/Orbx Vector but then all you have to do is reinstall that stuff.  It should not harm FSDT and any other airport add-ons.  I had GEP3D installed and it wiped that out but I just reinstalled it and have it all back again.  None of your aircraft have to be reinstalled.  You will have to update ASP4 if you have Active Sky installed.  REX stuff might need to be reinstalled too.  I do see you have FTX Orbx stuff installed and FSLabs but again, it won't harm your FSLabs installations.

See the AVSIM CTD Guide for more information.

Hello Jim

Thank you for your feedback. The crash or hang takes place during the flight. Sometimes during climb shortly after takeoff, sometimes later in the climb or even in the cruise. So no I did not follow the steps on page 10 yet, as the sim is starting and loading just fine. So i assume it has to be one of the addons I updated since my last good flight before christmas. Will disable or uninstall them one by one and see if that fixes the problem.

Seldom it happens that the sim loads fine to the start up page (where you choose your plane etc) and crashes then before I actually could choose anything.

I am aware that I am still on 4.3 and haven't upgraded to 4.4 yet. I read that some users expierence more stutters with 4.4, that's why I just waited for the moment.

You do not have to uninstall anything.  Just disable as I stated above and as shown in the CTD Guide.

It is sad one is not updating their sim to the latest version when they already paid for it.  You can go back to 4.3 anytime you want or even back to 4.0.  LM techs are working with developers to make sure their products work well with P3D and this is one of the reasons why they do these updates.  They found bugs and they fixed them. They worked with a developer to make their product work better too. They are constantly doing this.  They want only the best for everyone who owns their product.  Why some have stutters is completely different from the updates.  Stutters happen in some systems for many, many reasons and it is not because of P3D.  P3D, without any add-ons whatsoever, runs at over 300 fps for most at the default settings and default scenery/aircraft.  It is when one raises the settings from the default and adds add-ons that things start to go downhill.  Your system may just barely meet the requirements for running P3D too.  Many think they can have an i3 or i5 6700 system and can turn the settings up to the max or mostly to the max.  They cannot.  They cannot use multiple monitors too and enjoy the game 100% of the time.  Not even people like me who have an i7 running at 5.0GHz and a GTX 1080ti can run things at max and enjoy the sim. I don't want to run things at the max.  It is no fun and it does not make the sim look better.  Just because FSX and P3D have settings that can go to the max does not mean one can use them.  One has to live within their means.  If you cannot afford an i9 or i7 high-powered CPU and the latest GPU and the best memory, then you have to dramatically reduce your settings that provide a consistent 30 plus FPS.  You should never ever use a tweak in your configs.  Never!  Even if Lockheed provides some recommendations for tweaks.  The best "tweak" is a new system with the latest CPU and GPU.  Turning off hyperthreading in the BIOS (if you have a system with hyperthreading) will dramatically fix the stutters and the blurries.  I mentioned this even back in the old 4.3 days.  If you don't have hyper-threading options for your CPU, then you do not have a very good system for flight simulation.  Look for moving up to a more powerful system or quit flight simulation as it will not be enjoyable with stutters and the blurries.

The AVSIM CTD Guide, page 32, provides many suggestions for fixing crashes at startup, at loading, and during the flight.  These were fixes that were found by conducting Internet searches at all of the flight simulation websites where individuals stated it fixed their problem.

Hello again

I updated to 4.4 in the time. I was going to update anyway, but wanted to wait a bit until all developers are ready and then I was away 2 weeks over xmas period, that's the reason behind my delay.

I did a complete new install of Active Sky and Active Sky Cloud Art and that seems to have solved the problem. I was able to do two flights today (Geneva - Zurich) and (Zurich - Vienna) without problems. Will do further checks if that really was the only problem.

For me it was also crashing without even starting Active Sky. But yes, a complete uninstall of Active Sky and ASCA and fresh install solved the problems for me.

ASP4 always updates when a new P3D version is released.  Probably got caught up with a bad version.  Believe ASCA was updated too.
