Aircraft in Add On Directory

Hello,

i have installed the latest Linda, but Linda is not aware of my Aircraft installed in the Documents/Prepar3D v4 Add-ons Directory.

What is here wrong or is it not possible ?

Which version of LINDA do you have? V3.0.9 should check all new locations. Please email me your linda2.log to Linda @ awginfosys.net (removing spaces).

it works now.

I have just created a Folder called like the Airplane name manually.
I dont now if Linda has to do that automatically?

Hi Matthias

Thank you for sending me the linda2.log (incomplete). It shows LINDA scanning the /documents/Prepar3D v4 Addons directory to search for valid aircraft and checks the important addons.xml file. It finds a number of scenery add-ons but no aircraft. It is the .xml that points to the actual addon location so that LINDA can create a list of installed aircraft. There are a number of other valid install locations used by P3Dv4 each of which it needs to scan.

I am pleased that you have a solution. What folder did you create and where did you place it?

i just created Prosim-AR Folder in the Linda/Aircraft Directory.
After that it works 🙂

By creating a folder in the /LINDA/aircrafts directory means that LINDA will assume it has a valid aircraft module. The absence of one is treated as a FSX Default aircraft and LINDA reverts to the default functions.

I am unsure whether or not your workaround will provide a stable working solution. There are no Prosim module written for LINDA.

too bad, i was to early too happy 🙂

So lets start with the old (working) setup.
Here i had a Aircraft installed directly in the FS Folder. (Prepar3D v4.4)
It was installed under
G:\Prepar3D v4\SimObjects\Airplanes\TestPlane

Now, the new Aircraft is installed in the Documents Directory:

F:\Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons\Flightsim\Simobjects\Airplanes\TestPlane

First question is why Linda not found my Aircraft?
Second what must i do to get it working?

Lockheed Martin has provided aircraft add-on developers new options to install their product in new separate locations such as the \documents\prepar3d v4 add-ons. This separates the addons from the main P3D software to facilitate future updates. It also allows the use of existing locations.

The developer has to design their installation to use these locations and provide an essential addon.xml file so that P3D (and therefore LINDA) can find the addons objects folder. You can not simply move the aircraft by copying it. I recommend you use original install location. Alternatively, you need to read in detail the P3D SDK documentation to understand the changes.

no, i just used the installer and it installed the Aircraft in the Add on directory, which is correct.

I just dont know why Linda did not found this aircraft?

Check in the /documents/prepar3d v4/add-ons/{your aircraft} and ensure that there is an add-on.xml file. If it does not exist then your aircraft does not conform to the P3Dv4 SDK definition which LINDA uses. Is there a simobjects/airplanes folder in the same directory as below?

The add-on.xml for the above example is formatted as follows:

You could create a similar add-on.xml with the appropriate paths for simobjects and effects. No changes to LINDA are planned or required to conform with the P3Dv4 standard. I am unable to offer further assistance.

there is for sure a Addon.xml file nearly looking like above.

I think i found a possible reason for all that.
In Windows i chnged the loction of my Documents Direktory via right click on documents and then used the Move To button to change the location.
Now i have a LUA file, that also make Problems because there is a call:

sound.path(os.getenv("userprofile") .. "\\documents\\prepar3d v4 add-ons\\prosim-ar\\sound\\")
I let, via ipc.display, LUA output the final string and it does not point to F:\ , no, it points to c:\user\username

It seams that can be the reason for that problems.
I dont know, but i know there is also in C# a .NET call for the user profiles path, and these i tested, gives me also C.\user\....

So, i think maybe LINDA is also using the .NET call and gets these wrong directory.

The question is, if it is like i think, how can i solve that ?
But if you have no more time i will tr google.

Looking at your linda2.log you sent me, LINDA correctly identifies the location on your F:/Documents/Prepar3d v4 add-ons/ folder and finds other add-ons located there. You can see for yourself the [TEST] lines. Your aircraft simply needs to comply this.

As you have done your own thing with copy/changing locations, I am unable to advise or assist you further. This thread is locked.
