FS9 Installation Issue (resolved)

Recommended Posts

Even this shouldn't make any difference but you never know.

I can confirm it doesn't matter what order the windows are. Just tested the following order 00, 03, 04, 01, 02, 05. No issues.

I believe this is the blue window Dave mentioned. It does appear blue. Never really paid much attention to the color myself.

Yes, this IS very weird. I've never had such an issue with FS9 as far as programs that are designed to work with it.

I installed FS9 to the default location as usual. Then added Update9.1. Then added all the usual aftermarket add-ons.

The [Window06] section added to the bottom of the Panel.CFG is the default location RPX chose to place it. In my experience, all aftermarket add-ons place changes at the bottom of this text.

I did "clean up" the Panel.CFG text, and placed all [Window##] sections together, and in numerical order.

I did try editing the zorder=#, position=#, visible=## and always_visible=# lines with different number combinations. I also tried deleting some of the lines with no change in results.

The picture BillS511 posted contains the "blue Shift+ commands windows" that I was refering to. (I didn't know what else to call it).

I will check the text using Notepad++ for any invisible characters, etc.

I will post a "cleaned up" Panel.CFG using the method described by FPPilot.

I will doubled check why I missed showing the Mini Panel - that was odd. I don't remember seeing it.

Thanks for all the help folks!

Dave

Ok, here is the Panel.CFG using Notepad++ and uploaded with Spoiler.

I tried removing the C172 file completely and replaced it with a fresh, unmolested file from my original back up file. After doing this, all of the Shift+ commands worked and the blue command section displayed properly.

Then I configured the RXP 750/650 using the default sequence (as above). I still had no positive results in 2D Panel, but I had a black rectangle display in the 3D Panel.

You're making progress! I'd like to understand the issue and see if there is anything we can do to help prevent this.

Have you found out what is the difference with the panel.cfg file which didn't show the window in the list?
Have you saved a copy so that you could 'host' the file someplace and share it with us?

As for the 'black' window, at least there is a window. Can you please post the content of the RXP log files? (see user's manual for file/path).

Dave,
I do not see any instances of RXP GTN gauges in any of your [vcockpit##] sections.

FPPilot - No Sir, there are no RXP entries in this section in the default installation in FS9, FSX:SE or P3d v4.4 Panel.CFG [VCockpit] entries.

RXP & all - Yes, we made some progress. After taking this pic, I overwrote all original gauges in the main Gauge file in hopes that it would replace any corrupted original files, but still no further positive results.

I will post a side by side of both Panel.CFGs. I believe I have copies of all major, updated CFGs.

If we can't come up with a solution, I might just try a complete FS9 un/reinstall and see if something goes right. I have a lot of free & payware items that could possible conflict other pther gauges. Although, I don't think that would be the case seeing that I have 6 different panels on my stock FSX:SE C172 and all them work just fine including your RXP GTN 750/650 Avionics Suite.

@New Light
Have you tried running the RXP installer to make sure everything installed properly? Not from the F1 wrapper but the file that gets extracted rxpGTN-FSIM-Setup.exe. If you don't have this file then you can reinstall from the F1 wrapper.

Yes, I ran the RXP program 3 times. I always run my exe files from the independent, extracted file also.

I don't see any differences in Panel.CFGs other than edits that I listed above.

I am going to try a complete uninstall and do a fresh install.

OK, here's the bad news...

I uninstalled FS9 and all of it's add-ons, cleaned up and deleted all related files, did a fresh install of FS9, Update 9.1, and RXP GTN.

I did usually install sequence of RXP 750/650, confirmed the Panel.CFG was correct, but still nothing...

I'll work with this more tomorrow.

I forgot to mention that I am running Windows 10 with the current updates. Is the RXP software set up for W10 & FS9?? Just spit balling at this point...

Thanks for help! I'll work tomorrow.

Ok, I think this is what you're looking for... C:/Documents

I spent the evening trying to follow the manual concerning dll's, XMLs, addons, etc. and their placements. I am not well versed in working with these items, but everything seems correct.

Thank you, there you are:

DoV9Mhi.png

FS9.0 is v0.0.0.30612

FS9.1 is v9.1.0.40901

Are you using a NOCD version by any chance?

Yes, as far as I have experienced, FS9 no longer works without the NOCD exe... hope I'm not doing anything wrong :/

Alright... I found the correct No CD exe. file.... It works perfectly now... smh lol

I knew it was something REALLY simple. I didn't realize there were two different exe. - 17 years later, and I'm still learning about MSFS

Thanks for your great patience and guidance from all!

I'm going to pick up the RXP GNS 530/430 & Wx Radar for FS9 now!
