FSX-MS Will FSX steam fix various issues after installing Win 10

Long time user of FSX but after upgrading to Win 10 about 2 years ago it seemed like nothing worked correctly, the software and some hardware like my MS force feed joystick.   I would like to get back to simming.   I Have FSX gold version but is the steam version the answer for some of my ills with win 10 upgrade?  Realize this is not very specific question but FSX software seems to have a mind of it's own. I deleted and re-installed several times, loaded it on another computer, etc. Nothing helped. Help appreciated.

Everyone seems to either love it or hate it  It does go on sale every so often for $5.

I started with FSX after rebuilding my box with Win 10.  I had problem loadings FSX and once loaded, it didn't run very well.  So I switched to FSX-SE.  After some initial problems, the system now runs smoothly and as well as can be expected on an older i7.

My advice for installing just about anything in any version of Windows beyond Windows XP is to install software into a folder other than the default C:/Program Files folder.  Using another folder gets around issues with Windows access and write permissions.

Got Steam just over three years ago (never had the FSX discs).  A few minor problems in the beginning, but now I'm happy as a (Steamed) clam with it...

If it's a Force Feedback 2 joystick, they're fully compatible with Windows 10 without any special drivers so it would appear not to be a Windows problem. Not sure about FF1 sticks.

Whilst it might not resolve your problem, I'm a big fan of FSX:SE and would recommend it highly.

I purchased the Steam Edition in June of 2016 and have had 2 crashes since that time.

I've had FSX:SE for a number of years now and I've found it to be MUCH more reliable than the boxed version. I think that if I was given the choice of boxed or Steam, I'd go for Steam every time.
