Helicopter Collective Lever

Hi.

Anyone got any ideas or pictures how I could make a collective lever to start to learn how fly helicopters? I've got a joystick and saitek rudder pedals.

I saw a guy a Cosford flying a helicopter with a simple joystick, rudder pedals and a length of drain pipe, but I didn't see what the drain pipe was controlling or what bit of kit it was connected too.

I made one out of pvc tubing, a steering damper, a linear pot, and an old joystick. 

 

There is no twist grip throttle, but, the collective effect is very good.  I have been using it for several years and have well over 1000 flight hours on it.  Cost was less than $100.

Not many helicopter folks.  Helicopters are the only aircraft I fly.  If you have any additional questions about the collective build let me know.

No problem.

Might sit tight and pay more attention to the guys setup at Cosford this year. Will report any new developments.
